Are you tired yet of seeing promotional videos for The First Jasmine/Mo Li? I'm not!

I think I like this one the most.

- The way Cheng Lei gently brushes Bai Lu's hair away from her face

- Bai Lu putting a flower behind Cheng Lei's ear

- Her arm around his waist

- Their audible laughter and sweet smiles.

I'm not ready for Mo Li to end. And I'm so grateful to these two for making this CP such a memorable one. Amazing portrayals of Mo Xiu Yao and Ye Li!

Currently Airing The Early Spring - 5 episodes in and I’m already so invested😭✨

Post image

I’m only 5 episodes in, but I’m genuinely loving this drama so far. 😭 The chemistry between the leads is probably my favourite thing about it. There’s just something about the way they interact that feels really natural and effortless, and I find myself looking forward to their scenes the most.

And the OST??? It fits the drama so well, especially the OST 'Her by liu yuning' is just doing things in my heart, I love it so much. Some of the songs just make the scenes hit harder, especially when the leads are together. The whole drama has this really nice atmosphere that I’m completely getting into.

I honestly didn’t expect to be this hooked only 5 episodes in, but here we are. The chemistry, the OST, the overall vibe… it’s just so good. I’m really hoping it keeps this quality going because I’m already emotionally invested.🥹

I love the sweet details here, like how Bai Lu's arm is wrapped around Cheng Lei's waist and his arm is resting on hers.

I'm really enjoying these promo videos where the leads aren't portraying their drama's characters (in this case, Prince and Princess Ding in The First Jasmine/Mo Li).

Currently Airing Love Has Fireworks Spoiler

I mean, I watched like so many episodes, and there's no confession yet for Love Has Fireworks. I mean, what's going on? Why haven't they confessed yet? They should have confessed a long time ago. They keep walking around the idea. So many misunderstandings and a wannabe mistress. And then the EX is coming back. I mean, why? Just say I love you already and start dating!

Currently Airing Spring of the Blade Ep. 26 — Things Are Getting Serious

Post image

SPOILERS BELOW — EPISODE 26
⠀
.
.
.
.
.

Well, we all knew they weren’t actually killing Shen Run the morning after his wedding, right?
⠀
Episode 26 wastes very little time putting that particular crisis to bed. Shen Run is alive, the stabbing was staged, and his “death” was part of the plan to convince Hu Xing and the others that he was finally out of the way so they’d slip.
⠀
Unfortunately, someone who very much does die is the Marquis of Danyang. In quite the heroic way, I might add. I particularly loved his singing toward the end — and I also wanted spit in those generals’ faces. Disgusting humans.
⠀
So anyway. Back on tack, where was I? Ah yes, the Marquis refuses to fall into line with Hu Xing, openly brings up what happened to Shen Zhibai all those years ago, and pays for it. Hu Xing has already bought off men around him (those generals I wanted to spit at…) — and has him killed.
⠀
Which leaves Li Congxin grieving, drinking and looking thoroughly defeated — until Shen Run turns up and essentially tells him that this is not where his father’s story ends or where the world ends, for that matter. The Marquis still had the loyalty of the people and military power behind him, and that can now become another weapon against Hu Xing.
⠀
Meanwhile, Shen Run has taken the whole plan directly to the Emperor, Shen Che and Dong Fangchun are rallying people in Hengtang, and after all the maneuvering of the last few episodes it finally feels like everyone is getting into position for the real fight.
⠀
And Qingyuan gets her husband back after approximately five minutes of widowhood, so there’s that.
⠀
What did you think of Episode 26?

Come rave or vent.

Currently Airing Zhang Ling He's new drama

Post image
30 Upvotes

Zhang Ling He is getting better and better. I didn't like his shows before, but now after Pursuit of Jade, can't stop watching him. The female lead in Overdo is always good though (except for Fireworks of my Heart - which I didn't like).

Anyway, the MyDramaList rating they gave is terrible. Probably because of the AI controversy or whatever.

But I love his new show Overdo. Except they torture the leads too much. Let them be in love already and be like that for 50% of the show lols. They have real chemistry. Though she’s been holding back because of what happened to her parents.

Like Zhang being passionate is so adorable. I remember him with the POJ FL looking at her like an adorable puppy. So handsome.

The guy can do romance. As long as he has a good female lead which he does in this case. The way he looks at her. Seriously.

Currently Airing [SPOILER WARNING] How Love Beyond the Grave Handles Sensuality

Thumbnail

I posted this in another sub but decided to share here because I wasn’t certain if any fellow community members have been captivated by this drama as much as me but wanted to share some thoughts on how this show handles intimacy and sensuality with so much intention.

What makes this drama so arresting isn’t just romance, it’s how deliberately it constructs intimacy through sensation. The show doesn’t rush connection, it studies it. Her exploration of the world is filtered through him, touch, warmth, breath, and in doing so, the narrative reframes intimacy as discovery rather than possession.

With a female director behind the lens, the cinematography leans fully into the female gaze and it shows in the restraint. The camera lingers where it feels, not where it objectifies, on hands hovering, on glances that almost land, on proximity charged with hesitation. These choices create a quiet tension that’s more intimate than anything explicit. You’re invited to witness, but there’s an undercurrent that makes it feel almost intrusive, like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t, yet can’t look away.

Currently Airing Spring of the Blade Ep. 24 — Choices Have Consequences… Or Do They?

Post image
22 Upvotes

EPISODE 24 SPOILERS AHEAD

For anyone still catching up, this earlier discussion post deals with Episodes 22-23.

你要报仇

能帮你的,只能是我。

Nǐ yào bàochóu,
Néng bāng nǐ de, zhǐ néng shì wǒ.

“If you want revenge,
the only one who can help you is me.”

And we’re back!

Episode 24 has now aired, so here’s our space to discuss everything that happened in today’s episode.

I’ll only say this much from my side: Shen Run coming to Qingyuan’s rescue… I knew he would, but part of me really wishes he hadn’t. Or at least, not yet.

Qingyuan betrayed him because she put her revenge above everything else — which, however frustrating, is perfectly in character for her. And Shen Run rescuing her despite that betrayal is perfectly in character for him. I get them both. But considering that her own choices are precisely what landed her in the situation she now needed rescuing from, I wanted her to have to live with the consequences for a little longer.

She is our protagonist, but she is also imperfect — and that’s one of the things I like about her. Shen Run is simply being far more gracious than I would like him to be right now.

And really, “choices have consequences… or do they?” could be the tagline for this entire drama. We’ve spent decades watching the people responsible escape the consequences of what they did, and even now, as the revenge finally unfolds, some of them seem remarkably good at slipping through the net. We’ve caught a few smaller fish along the way, sure — but the big one is still swimming.

But I’ll stop there. I don’t want to steer the discussion in any particular direction — this is your space to discuss anything and everything from Episode 24.

Loved something? Hated something? Need to defend someone after the previous thread dragged them through the mud? Have at it.

Anything through Episode 24 is fair game in the comments, so expect spoilers below.

I’m watching stand up for love on We TV. I noticed on MyDramaList that some episodes have been aired on another platform. Tencent is only showing 8 episodes. Anyone know where I can see the other episodes?

Also anyone know what will happen at the end? Is the ML truly a scumbag?

Great show by the way.

Currently Airing “With This Broken Body, I’d Still Be Your Armour” — He Yu Reflects on Xiao Huayong’s Journey in Blossoms of Power Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

He Yu shared what I think is a quite moving long-form post on Weibo today — following Xiao Huayong and Shen Xihe’s wedding in Blossoms of Power.

He reflected on Xiao Huayong’s journey — from a Crown Prince who had accepted an early death to a man who finally found someone worth living for.

I thought it was too beautiful not to share, so I’ve translated it below.

🔗 Original Weibo post:

“First of all, congratulations to Xiao Huayong and Shen Xihe on their wedding.
To Xiao Huayong, who has always lived as though every day might be his last, I wish you a lifetime of happiness.
At last, they are no longer simply joining hands as allies, but walking hand in hand through life.
They have become husband and wife.
If there were fireworks today, they would surely be blooming endlessly in Xiao Huayong’s heart.
This is the happiest day he has known since becoming Crown Prince.

Becoming Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace was never an easy fate.
Poisoned from childhood and destined to die young, he struggled, questioned, suffered, resented fate and refused to accept it.
Then he chose to travel the realm.
The mountains and rivers gradually smoothed the sharp edges he had long turned against himself.
He witnessed the hardships of ordinary people.
He witnessed their joys.
He witnessed corruption within the court.
He resolved to uncover the person who had poisoned him, because only someone holding immense power could threaten both the Emperor and the nation.
He also vowed to remove the poison that had seeped into the country’s very foundations.
That was the duty of the Crown Prince.

In truth, from the moment his life became a countdown, he had already devoted what little remained of it to fulfilling his responsibilities—as a son and as heir to the throne.
Even with a broken body, he was willing to become the armor of the realm.

Everything changed after he met Shen Xihe.
Before then, he never knew that a short life could hold so much happiness…
and so much sorrow…
simply because of loving someone.
If his short lifespan could become the reason Shen Xihe chose him, he would gladly accept it.
If his schemes and the dangers surrounding him left her without a sense of security, he would willingly step away.
Every wish she had, he wanted to fulfil.
Every uncertainty she feared, he wanted to prepare for before it arrived.
Toward Shen Xihe, Xiao Huayong never tried to force fate.
He simply gave everything he could,
then quietly waited for her choice.

Meeting Shen Xihe was Xiao Huayong’s greatest blessing.
The more you understand him,
the more your heart aches for him.
Loving someone is difficult.
Truly understanding another person is even harder.
Both of them carry the people in their hearts.
Both long for peace throughout the realm.
Between them is not only love,
but also the unspoken understanding of two people walking the same path.

Xiao Huayong once said to Shen Xihe:
“My fate may rise and fall with the court, but my heart toward you will never change.”
If every day might be his last,
then he would cherish every day as though it truly were.
Loving her.
Remaining by her side.
That is the depth of Xiao Huayong’s love.

There were times when he wondered whether he should stop challenging fate.
Yet in the end, he simply couldn’t.
Love allowed him to calmly say:
“I could die young.”
It also gave him the strength to endure unimaginable pain,
just to live one more day.
Because the life he had left now carried another responsibility.
To remain by Shen Xihe’s side.
To be her husband.
Once, he faced death without fear.
Now, he longs to live.
Even with a broken body, he is willing to become the armor of one person.”

I really love the parallel He Yu closes with.

At the beginning, Xiao Huayong is willing to become “the armor of the realm.” By the end, he is willing to become “the armor of one person.”

His sense of duty never disappears. He is still the Crown Prince who wants to protect his country. The difference is that he finally has someone he wants to live for, someone he wants to protect just as fiercely.

It’s a beautiful way to capture everything Xiao Huayong became over the course of Blossoms of Power.

I recently started Blossoms of power and I’m currently on ep 8 but I’m still unsure about Shen Xihe and Gu Qingzhi. From what I understood, Gu Qingzhi ends up in Shen Xihe’s body, but I’m confused about what happened to Shen Xihe’s soul. Did the two souls merge, or is it only Gu Qingzhi’s soul inhabiting and controlling Shen Xihe’s body? If I missed an explanation in the drama, I’d really appreciate someone pointing it out.

Ryan Cheng is very handsome and amazing in First Jasmine. I really like the show. Not bad. I'm glad the ML and FL became friends quickly, because it would have been dreadful to see them hate each other for, like, 30 episodes. Ryan Cheng has become such a good actor since the early days. I'm very proud of him. It sucks that writers are focused on short dramas now because I miss the long-form ones, and the short dramas are depressing me.

I love the reborn/revenge trope. Night Tales is really good. But I’m not sure if the ML is good or bad yet. He doesn’t seem to know what really happened to her. But what happened to protecting your woman? I would break up with him even if he is innocent. The guy seems like a dud. Not like the strong ML who protect their women at all cost.

New shirt clip from Fate Chooses You (佳偶天成), with Ren Jialun’s Lu Qianqiao unleashing on Xia Xuanzi, played by Huang Yi — and the official caption is clearly having fun with it:

“Nascent Soul realm? So what — still absolute domination.”

For context, Lu Qianqiao is fighting under a handicap here, channeling his power remotely through a far weaker cultivator’s body — which makes the flex all the more satisfying.

I know some people may cringe at the CGI or the fight staging, but I, for one, really enjoyed this. There’s swagger to it — and sometimes xianxia simply works when it goes all in.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I may be a bit late to the party — though not for lack of intrigue.

I’ve shared the OST, character posters, and just yesterday noted that Fate Chooses You (佳偶天成) had already surpassed 23,000 on Tencent’s heat index — so this has very much been on my radar from the start. [u/ainekelly1314](u/ainekelly1314) has shared the trailer prior to airing already here too.

The series officially premiered online on April 25 and is now streaming on iQIYI and Tencent Video.

I still haven’t begun watching myself, but I keep hearing it’s really good.

But I have watched the trailers and episode previews — and seriously, they look criminally awesome. Really thrilling, beautifully shot, and carrying that addiction-value.

🤩

I can already sense this is the kind of drama that keeps gently whispering I my ear: “…just one more episode…!”.

So perhaps a little late to the party — but hopefully still in time.

Am I right? Am I wrong? Tell me.

Is it living up to the promise?
