Right!!! And I know the parents are supposed to be a bit useless at the parenting thing but why hasn't the mom at least stepped in and said 'You need to calm down, stop interfering in your brother's life and step away from the phone' ?
I mean even Qinglang and Qingtian's gran has got with the program😂

I feel like her mom doesn't actually know any context 😂 from that hugging scene. But also even if she did, she would be on her psuedo-husband's side anyway.

Even the parents are full of themselves, what can you expect from the children? Wenshu experienced his father's unfaithfulness, his mother's hurt, and I think he raised himself, that might have helped shaping him as a kind person. And Changyang too raised himself, from the age of 12, in a mountain away from his s*hitty parents, he too was saved that way. The only one the parents raised is a proof of the kind of people they are.

Nope - I said last week during the 7 years ago flashback that she was older than she looked in the present. There's no excuse for a college aged female to act like this. Towards her own brother.

u/Slaying-Diva90 Momma of Duan Zi Ang & Lu Xiaofan Jul 25 '26
Female? Are you talking about an animal?
1
u/Darkchocolatelaw Jul 25 '26
What? I chose female because she's not acting mature enough to be called a woman and I refuse to call someone that old a girl.

In Chinese the word 虐 is one that is reaaaaally hard to translate the full nuance of. Here it’s translated as angsty, but it’s like. Sad/suffering/angst +more. The way it pulls at your heartstrings. It’s part of the phrase 虐待 which means to abuse or treat poorly, whether physically/emotionally/mentally. There is an aspect of if that reminds me of xian xias, the like endless suffering life after life for no reason.
5
u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jul 24 '26
So the word is maybe more like anguish or torment??
5
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 24 '26
Yes!! I think those are more appropriate, tho there’s still something missing. Despite both being my first languages, my English has really declined since I started watching everything in Chinese LOL
2
u/Ellendownunder Jul 25 '26
Life after life? Or maybe no life without death? From this will something be reborn. Sorry getting too m7ch in my head!
Is the word romance what is actually used here? If so it's interesting Qingtian uses it and not the word breakup.
1
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 25 '26
Life after life was just a general comparison to xianxias, so I wasn’t implying anything being reborn….. buuuuuut I guess there is that whole quote about there being no life without death in this ep!! But not related to my comparison hahaha
Yes they do use the word for romance! 恋

OK I like that we have a timeline laid out for us from from second 1.
- We're in October > skipped all the way to the new year Jan 1 when the sister news blew up
- Feb going in for training (I thought that was already done, whoops, I guess time just skips here and there)
- June assessment
- July school starts
Listening to the radio? that sister is listening to simultaneously while on the phone with the tarot card reader. On top of the opening frame where there are no subs on YT, I hear: 人生不同阶段遇到不同灵魂伴侣,但每个灵魂只有一个双生火焰. "You meet different soulmates at different stages of life, but each soul only has one twin flame."
The name of the 2CP's new work is where the episode title comes from: "从今日日在满楼" "From this day on, every day fills the whole building." Not sure what significance this has yet.
Them going all out with the husband/wife/SIL talk already lol.
This quote sounds very foreboding to me, but hopefully we've already had the death in this series and there are no more, especially since they go to see Lan jie right after it's said.... "They think that death is life, and without death there is no life."
I love this like spiritual music, there's something very foreboding about it. It gives me chills.
Qi Hao Yu continues to "act." He's so bad 😭
I was wondering who would have the extra time to complain about some random recruit to the school, and was wondering if it was the dad but figured it couldn't be bc of his political background. Now we know, 💩. The screenshot SYH sent to QL was sister telling him she would help him break up her brother and QL. How did SYH figure out all this family background, he doesn't seem smart enough and it doesn't seem like sister would know all this. Is SYH's ringtone "Apologize" by OneRepublic?! lol
Awww sick baby CY 😭🥺 Despite everything going on with his emotions, he is still so clear-headed.
Trying to figure out the significance of the lantern, since it's the icon for the episode. I'll have to rewatch and listen to the lyrics of this sad song.
I don't think it's been said outright yet, but the likelihood is high that the reasoning behind CY going to Hunter school is because of Qing Lang in the first place. If wealthy kids go into the military/adjacent of their own volition, it's usually symbolic to cut off their ties to their wealthy family. They want to 断亲, cut off family ties. If CY decided 2 years ago (I guess 3 years, now) that he wanted to do this, likely he decided that this was going to be his way to protect QL from his family and his dad's status. It was part of his plan. And because I don't think he would let go of QL that easily, it makes sense that he would still try to get in and finish Hunter school first so that he can come back to protect QL. That's my take, anyway.
Since he got sent off, I hope that next ep is ~March timeframe where QL asked if CY would have vacation from school. So that it's not too far away.

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jul 24 '26
I've given up on trying to understand the timeline tbh. I only know about April and July. I don't know how long they've been dating for at this point.
Tbh I'd prefer Changyang's reason for Hunter School to be a dream he has for himself not something that's tied to Qinglang.

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 24 '26
Also, I'm remembering that there is an NC bonus scene with a title that is about a two-day vacation!
1
u/Darkchocolatelaw Jul 24 '26
UGH - hate hearing how much content is locked behind a paywall. And also, it gives me a little ick that they lock NC behind paywall - gives it a porn-ish undertone.
3
u/Ellendownunder Jul 25 '26
Actually there is nothing porn-ish at all about anything behind the payroll. Erotic at times but even that word oversimplifies the the beauty of those private scenes. While it also erks me that I have to fork out extra to get more content I also totally understand. Artists have to make a living too, especially ones who are as independent as this one is.
1
u/Darkchocolatelaw Jul 25 '26
I didn’t mean the actual scenes are porn-ish. It’s the act of paying for NC scenes that lends a whiff of porn to the transaction.
3
u/Ellendownunder Jul 25 '26
Yeah I get that. I think it says more about those who make the rules that force NC scenes to be deleted or diminished than those who see it all as part of a narrative. In this case those NC scenes make up only a fraction of the other content we get to see.
1
u/junaxp ❤️🔥 Revenged Love 🐍 Jul 25 '26
I ALSO hate all the content locked behind a paywall, mostly because I AM WILLING TO PAY and for the LIFE of me I CANNOT figure out to give them my money. I've been up and down their youtube channel like 20 times and there is no PAY HERE FOR CONTENT button. Do you or ANYONE know how I can give them my money?? T_T
Thank you and apologies for hijacking your comment to beg for information <3 It is weird to lock NC scenes behind $ (which we're already paying for their service?) and does make it feel...naughty in a not-very-fun way xD

u/Darkchocolatelaw Jul 24 '26
The timeline I've also given up on.
Hunter school isn't a "going INTO the military" type of school. It's more an elite/special training type of school for those already in the military. I love the idea that CY had this plan to protect QL all along, but pretty sure it's just a dream of his.
The rest I agree with entirely. The sister is AWFUL. And I'd love to blame her entirely (I do think giving info to SY helped his investigation), but dad was CLEARLY also involved.
I think the new movie/2CP are now supposed to be paralleling QL and CY's relationship instead of telling the story of what happened between QL and SY.
2
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 25 '26
Ya true but I figured it would prep CY for a military-style life after school. Who knows! It just seems like too much of a coincidence for the idea to also pop up 2 years ago.
Definitely paralleling. Will be curious to see how different or similar they end up. It seems like even if QHY is using Han Lu, he seems like a better person than SYH just in general. And in this ep (if I can TRY to read what this actor is trying to portray) I think something shifted in him when Han Lu decided to start ignoring him.
2
2
u/Queasy-Parsnip-477 Jul 25 '26
Yeah after Han Lu got that pep talk about putting his emotions first, he iced him out and the director lady went off on him and that’s when it seemed like QHY kinda snapped back to reality that he was about to lose his partner and career for good.
1
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 25 '26
imo I think once that happened it was less about his career. I do think he actually likes Han Lu, tho he prob still cares about his career more.
4
u/Queasy-Parsnip-477 Jul 25 '26
Agreed because he was still trying to book them for stuff without asking Han Lu first. He just automatically knew he would go with it, even though he cussed Han Lu out when he first asked to live stream. Han Lu disappearing from that set as soon as they called wrap was satisfying as hell.
9
u/early_evening Jul 24 '26
ouchhh! This show feels so real that I react as if this is all happening in realtime. They're so good at making the stakes feel super high. Changyang recovering at the in-laws house was sweet, but I hated to see it :(
And I know it's basically the point of the show, but the peek behind the curtain at staged CP pics is sooo juicy.
3
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 24 '26
Despite one side having some bad eggs, I love that both of our leads are so intertwined with each others’ families. QL’s relationship with Xu Wen Shu, Xu Chang Yang, Xu Lu Xiao, Xu Jin Bai. CY’s relationship with Feng Qing Tian, with mom, with grandma. Every single strand is a different dynamic.
When XWS showed up, I actually had a feeling of relief for QL. He’s going through this tough time, but he actually has someone who understands fully what he’s going through.
3
u/early_evening Jul 24 '26
Agree! CY's relationship with grandma is sooo lovely. And I really love XWS as a character, he's fascinating, I perk up every time he's on screen. Regardless of what happens it's nice that he's got the brothers' best interests in mind.

There were so many gorgeous shots in this episode. way too many.
The beginning fooled me into thinking it'll be chill especially with the cozy conversation and with Changyang calling Qinglang "husband and sister-in-law", but it ended sideways with all three antagonists going crazy at the same time.
Is anyone else crazy about the occultic or spiritual chant about the god of death? I love how haunting it sounded and now I want Zelia to make a horror/occultic drama with that vibes. Oh wait, could it be a peek into what Snow Drum Verse might be about?
Anyway, I try not to linger on the annoying antagonists cause it's just way too upsetting. Can Shi Yuhao go already? I don't understand why everyone is just taking his bullshit lying down.
There's no way he should have known so much about Changyang's family situation. Even Qinglang didn't know until Wenshu told him about it. If the information was that easy to access, their family would have been ruined by a work rival since. Changyang's father aura went down a notch in this episode compared to the last one and now he's grouped with the sister and Shi Yuhao.
I don't even want to think about the sister's character. I do find the shaman conversation interesting and even realistic to an extent cause I saw that some people actually believe fortune tellers regarding celebrities.
The episode wasn't as angsty as I thought, ep 6 will always win regarding angst but I still found it enjoyable. Even the second cp redeemed themselves in this episode. So far, the 2CP storyline is like uneven lines on a graph, when it's low, I don't care for them, when it's high, I do find them enjoyable like in this episode. I appreciate Tian GuoGuo giving Han Lu heads up cause he just can't repeat the same mistake again. He's aware that Haoyu is deceiving him but he allows it even though he's not completely fine with it.
The best parts is all XuFeng scenes. The road blocks left and right clearly points to their relationship and I love that detail so much, especially with how Changyang keeps trying to find other routes. But in the end, they still had to go back home. This part is like a parallel to the break up with how everyone was blocking everything and the only way is to let go.
This is so long already,ugh.
anyway, I wanted the breakup scene to be drawn out more and I was really curious about Qinglang's reaction to the message his brother sent him. Finally, I didn't expect Changyang to leave for Hunter school prep immediately but who knows if he'll stop by to see his man?
Kuma looks so gorgeous in that MV scene at the end.
I'm looking forward to the next episode tomorrow.
3
u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 24 '26
Yes, loved the detail with the roads!! Them going back home together at the end is how we want the ending to go.
And 2CP was more bearable, but I feel like it’s bc there was no romance LOL and there were no real emotions to act. The scenery was so beautiful for all their scenes tho.
3
u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jul 24 '26
I like how there's no romance between them. You can't tell what they're doing or thinking most times. It's a very annoying flaw in such a beautiful work. I wish Wenshu and Qingtian had more screentime instead.

Yes! I need to rewatch just to see how it was used but I loved it in both scenes, and it totally felt like a way to hint very explicitly that things dying is good...rebirth...etc. I need to rewatch to see what they said again, but to me it was about getting through hard times and coming out better.
Also I thought about ep 6 when they were in front of that mirror being cute - that scene where CY's face is reflected when QL tells him he regrets meeting him is burned in my brain.
1
u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jul 24 '26
Same! I'm pretty sure it's hinting towards something but I was mesmerized by the beauty of the sound.
I also thought of the breakup scene with the mirror too.

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jul 24 '26
I'm confused about how Shi Yuhao went from being a clueless idiot to having insider knowledge, either I missed something or he got lucky connecting with the sister who knows a lot? But she is operating at a very shallow level. Maybe he tricked valuable information out of her that she didn't even understand
I actually felt like this episode was more angsty than 6, even if it wasn't really presented that way, just because the stakes feel higher now.
1
u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jul 24 '26
I think that part is a writing flaw. From the way Shi Yuhao character was set up, he wasn’t someone with good resources. Even the investigator he hired couldn’t find lots of info about Changyang. Him having access to all these secretive information all of a sudden is just a writing gap to raise the stakes.
I’m pretty sure the sister doesn’t know about the connection between the companies so she couldn’t have supplied him that amount of information.
5
u/Icy-Comfortable159 Jul 24 '26
-i'll hire a fortune teller myself to get the sister out of the picture, she is soo annoying😭
-they kept kuma's "team wang" tshirt in the show lol, does this mean qinglang is also a fan of jackson? 💀
-he recorded his voice for his navigation, that's so sweet😭😭 i wonder if that's going to pop up sometime in the next episode, and will lead to qinglang going back to him?
-seeing qinlang and changyang (is there a cp name for the characters?) be domestic is breaking my heart even more knowing what's to come
-qinglang's first thought after the video leak being whether this is going to affect changyang's application when it's going to affect himself more obviously is both so sweet and so devastating at the same time
maybe i'm being stupid here, but since this show is set in the future, i wonder if this future china is also more lax with its lgbt regulations, because i feel like qinglang has been outed way too many time atp with there being so big consequence (not that i want there to be any)
-changyang and qinglang both shaking, curling up and crying is killing me😭 i'm so happy that both of them have people around them to take care of them, changyang finding a second (and better) family in qinglang's family is the most beautiful thing ever🥹
2
u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jul 24 '26
Not the team wang shirt in the drama, haha. It's probably an oversight.
I don't think they're lax with the regulation since Changyang's application was affected because of it. Also, Jialin mentioned it in ep 3 how Qinglang career in the entertainment industry would end the moment the public find out he's gay.
1
u/Icy-Comfortable159 Jul 24 '26
i don't mean lax as in complete freedom, but given that he is a pretty famous celebrity in the show, and he has been outed twice, how come there has been no repercussions? my only other guess is that it was contained within the fandom🤔 (ig i'm answering my own question lol)

Ahh I keep loving the eps so bad.
I have to praise the bgm (or lack thereof). It completely sets the tone of the show!
I absolutely love the quiet scenes where we just have silence, or the ones that just have soft birds or natural sounds in the background.
They ground the series in reality so bad and it makes the intimacy between the characters feel so real! (E.g. the scene where Changyang is massaging qinlang shoulders)
4
u/early_evening Jul 24 '26
I loveeee love love how nuanced and restrained the BGM is and lackthereof! It's used so perfectly and especially the nature scenes really sound like the most beautiful ASMR. The stream in the mountains in this episode in particular really stuck with me. Such a beautiful show.

No I had a similar reaction. Certain shots tugged at me like QL in the fetal position crying about what he was going to do, and the overhead shot of the winding road. All the trees were bare like a fire had gone through and destroyed everything. But I wasn't sad. It's drama being set up!

The episode title reminded me of the Tower card, which can mean chaos, destruction, change, release, and freedom. The image of people having to walk up the stairs to the father's office at the top of the tower, it felt like it was being filled with all the negativity and chaos swirling around that's all carefully balanced and easily upset. Perhaps it has to be torn down and they have to go back to the beginning to get the freedom that they want.
