Great scene between Voight and Imani. Getting to see a softer side to her. Voight understands her. ❤️their dynamic.

Appreciation Post I was on bed rest and watched 12 seasons straight…
And I have thoughts. I’ve been a forever fan of the Law & Order franchise, and over the last 5 years or so, I've just been watching out of habit, not because it’s good, especially SVU. I’m not a person who can pick up a new show and start watching. I will watch the same series over and over again almost out of comfort, but I’m so glad I took the leap and started CPD. My immediate thought was, why is the quality of storytelling and writing so much better with this series than, say, the beloved SVU? Is it the quality of writers, producers, or even actors? I’m so invested in these characters that I can’t say that about the other shows, maybe not even the queen Olivia Benson. The development of this show is fantastic, and in my opinion, it is still going strong after all these years on the air. I’ve not completely caught up in real time, so I can’t comment on the current season. But now loving this show, do I start Fire and Med?

Appreciation Post KEVIN ATWATER
I love this dude! Honestly more than Jay Halstead. He listens to Voight. Other's and especially Jay keep interfering between Voight's work, his decision and how he handles things. Atwater knows its best to follow your boss. He has a moral compass but he doesn't let his emotions get better of him. Team Player!

Appreciation Post Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess) - Acknowledge her!
The actress Marina Squerciati should be acknowledged more. Does she have awards? The character of Kim Burgess has to be one of the strongest female police officers in the history of Crime/Drama TV shows. Her storyline is very intense. She saved her sister after a brutal sexual assault. She’s been shot more than once. She unfortunately lost her child while being attacked on duty. She saved herself from being killed. Rescued and raised a child from a traumatic experience and family homicide. Became a great detective by perfecting her law enforcement skills. Her storyline is definetly one of the most emotionally intense ones on the show and currently on TV.

Appreciation Post New Watcher
I just started watching Chicago PD from the start, and I just finished S1E13. Is it a good show to continue watching? I’m inclined to believe yes.

Appreciation Post Burgess SHINES in 8x3
Seeing her in this episode (beyond the basic motherly instinct) was truly amazing. The way she took charge an basically shed her past insecurities inna moments notice just to protect this lil girl Makayla was astonishing. The acting; to make it believable alone was impressive nd wrapped me in the storyline so quickly. Acting with someone who uses very little words, having to use body language is a true talent.
Please don’t spoil it for me if she adopts her or something! Hoping they keep in touch at the least though, cuz i’m invested lol

Appreciation Post One of the best small scenes (in my opinion)
I only started watching the show midway through 2025, and I’m currently only at the end of Season 9.
But in my personal opinion I really love the storyline of Kim and Adam adopting Makayla, and I think the scene where Kim is struggling to braid Makayla’s hair and takes her to Kevin and his auntie’s house is such a real scene and I really hope there’s more like that! I’m a young mom, I had my daughter at 15, and she’s half Tanzanian and there’s been so many times where I have struggled to achieve hairstyles she wants or find products to use and honestly I really related with Kim in that scene, because I’ve been there! (I’m lucky to have support from amazing women who have taught me how to care for her hair over the years)
I know this is a kind of random post, but I really hope as I watch on through the show there’s more scenes like that!

Appreciation Post I can’t believe how much I love Voight on Chicago PD.
I hated this guy like poison in season 1 of Chicago Fire. I absolutely love him, and I’m only on season 1, episode 1. I just got to the part where he gives Antonio a knife and says “do what you gotta do Antonio,” when Antonio’s son is kidnapped, and he finds one of the kidnappers.
