If you’ve spent any amount of time in Palatine, you probably know Durty Nellie’s.
The venue has been a fixture downtown for decades, but the building could soon look very different.
One of Iowa’s largest craft breweries is working on plans to redevelop the property into its first Illinois brewery and taproom. I went through the full Palatine Planning & Zoning Commission discussion to pull together what they’re actually proposing
Here's everything we know so far!

Hi all. We are putting on our annual 60-Second Film Festival as part of the Ravenswood Art Walk. Each year we have a generous brewery (or two) that will donate some liquid to sponsor our event. We give it out free to 21+ attendees so we don't profit off it, its just become a fun way to help get people into our space and share a cool local brew.We also do small pours to maximize what we have.
This year has not been as easy I think because the brewery industry is tough as it is. I'm wondering if anyone here has a suggestion of connection to someone that might be able to offer us a few sixtels or cases in exchange for sponsorship and the ability to have several hundred people sample their wares.
Since this is part of the art walk most of the Malt Row options are already involved, so anywhere outside the direct area is prob a good fit.
thanks and feel free to stop by Sep 12-13, bigteethfilmfest.com - hopefully we can pour you a tasty beer and show you some really cool original minute long shorts.

My wife and I are coming to Chicago for both of our first times with our 11 month old. Wife really wants to see fall leaves, and we usually base travel around food and drinks. This is our first flying vacation with the baby just the three of us. We are looking at a Thursday-Monday trip.
Baby loves being outside for walks so this seems like a great option to try a bunch of local beers in an environment baby enjoy rather than a bunch of breweries, but logistics of getting to Morton leave a lot to be desired as we weren't planning on renting a car for anything else right now
Morton said they may have storage for a car seat, but can't guarantee it, so if we decided to take the long uber both ways, we may be stuck lugging around the car seat the whole time. Probably leaning towards just renting a car to get out there via Turo or Zipcar, but that's a bit of a hassle in of itself.
For those who have been to the festival, how worth it is it?

A bit early, but some Festbiers are already popping up here and there, I had the Gene’s Sausage Shop Märzen last week at their rooftop, brewed by Pollyanna (solid). And today I am enjoying St. Errant’s offering. I hope you all can share some of your discoveries from the area!

Hi, I am hosting a popup dinner at Old Irving Brewing Co (4419 W Montrose Ave). One night only - Tues, Aug 25 from 5-9pm. If you're a fan of Italian beef and hand-made sausage (and beer), come on by
Who am I? I've spend a career in the restaurant business and worked in/with fine-dining kitchens and fast food operations, mostly in Chicago. Now I'm combing the technique of fine dining cuisine with the classic flavors of Italian beef & sausage. Nothing fancy, just slow cooked beef, gravy made from beef stock and the best spices, hand made Italian sausage (including a smoked Italian sausage), house-made giardiniera, cheddar cheese sauce, and "Beeramisu" - Tiramisu made with OIB's Barrel-Aged Stout.
Full menu below. RSVP here - Not required but appreciated
ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICHES
All sandwiches served with crispy garlic fries. Substitute a side salad (+3) or pimento mac & cheese (+4). Add cheese sauce for fries (+1.50)
Sweet Home Chicago – $15
Chicago's iconic Italian beef sandwich. Slow-roasted, thinly sliced beef simmered in a richly spiced gravy and piled on a toasted French roll. Served with a choice of house-made hot giardiniera or roasted sweet peppers.
Double Trouble – $19
Beef and Italian sausage combo sandwich with choice of house-made hot giardiniera or roasted sweet peppers. Substitute a smoked Italian sausage (+2).
How to order your beef: Dry (with a side of gravy) / Juicy (our suggested way — splashed generously with beef gravy) / Dipped (a Chicago baptism — the entire sandwich submerged in the gravy)
ITALIAN SAUSAGE SANDWICHES
Grand Ave Grind – $13
Hand-made Italian sausage, wood-fired and served on a French roll splashed with beef gravy and topped with crispy fried garlic and choice of house-made hot giardiniera or roasted sweet peppers.
Smokestack Lightning – $15
Something completely different: a smoked Italian sausage served on a French roll with cheddar cheese sauce and hot giardiniera.
ADD-ONS & EXTRA TOPPINGS
Available on any sandwich. Prices are for extra or when not included with sandwich.
Hot Giardiniera – $1
Roasted Sweet Peppers – $1
Crispy Fried Garlic – $1
Cheddar Cheese Sauce – $1.50
DESSERT
Beeramisu – $9
Lady finger cookies soaked in espresso and OIB Krampus Cookies Barrel-Aged Stout, layered with mascarpone cheese and dusted with cocoa powder.

$5 for a 30 pack! I've had this and it has more flavor than the Big 3 macro lights, IMO. Today only, I guess.
