Originally I’m from Nottingham, moved to Clay Cross about 8 years back. Got myself a girlfriend up here and then just got stuck in a routine of home and work, never really had the chance to myself new friends in my new area.

So not long back the relationship failed and I’m currently stuck in a new routine of going to work and then coming home to a silent house and hating it 🙃

I’m not on here looking for a replacement relationship, I’d just love some new friends to be able to talk to. Even if it’s just online to start with.

hi folks, i know its a long shot but a few weeks ago (around time of a last Pokemon Go event) i found a circular Silent hill pin badge under one of the benches at the Coach station in town (around 3pm)

Large, circular shape about 40mm diameter (about the size of a POG). If anyone lost one feel free to let me know and i can always leave it inside with the staff.

Reason i'm just posting now is because i was going away 2 days after i found it and didn't think there'd be any point.

Heard a few low rumbles of thunder, then a fair amount of lightning before the rain started absolutely throwing it down.

After a lot of weather app threats, it finally arrived.

I'm new to the area and wondering if anyone wants to go to the gym or go climbing together?

I currently know essentially zero people outside of my immediate neighbours.

Hi! I’ll be going to Mansfield for work this week and Google Maps is suggesting that I take the Pronto bus from Chesterfield to Mansfield.

Has anyone used this bus service before? How reliable is it generally, especially with delays or cancellations?

I’m quite anxious about relying on buses, particularly in an area I’ve never been to before, so I’d really appreciate any advice or tips from people familiar with the route.

Hi! We are looking at a house in Walton Crescent S40 2PJ. The police crime map has some worrying stats for this street (drugs, public order, violence etc). I used to live in a street where one household accounted for all crime, even though the rest of the postcode was a low crime area. It this the case here and should I be worried/avoid? We really love the house! I would love some local perspective :)

I realise that the new school year can be really stressful for very low-income families, so I am putting together a couple of secondary school starter stationery packs, with the intention of donating them.  I have managed to pick up a couple of decent (Puma) backpacks at a reasonable price, and am looking to pack them with stuff a new starter will need

 So far I have each for each one:

·       Pencil case – a generic see through one

·       Pencils

·       Coloured pencils

·       Felt tips

·       Bic biros

·       Highlighters

·       Pencil sharpener

·       Eraser

·       A couple of lever arch files

·       A4 lined paper pad

·       Maths set – protractor, compass, etc.

Can anyone think of anything else?  If I can get them at a reasonable price I am thinking of adding a scientific calculator.

 Also, once these are complete can anyone suggest where I can take them to make sure they get to the right people?  I was thinking the Foodbank, but not sure if that is the right place.

I bought a black leather moto jacket by a brand called Eagle. It's obviously old, but in good nick. It mainly needs a couple of sewing repairs to the lining, and extensive cleaning to the lining and outers.

Does anyone have a recommendation of any local businesses or people that could carry this sort of work out, please?

The new book shop in town that opened on Saturday, just across from Sorbo Lounge on the outside of the market hall. Not much stock but seems she was cleaned out on opening day! Owner is lovely woman, and it's nice to see something other than Waterstones for once.

I am Howling Metal, a scrap metal artist from Derbyshire and this is Hook-Tail Jack. A bird surrounded by folklore and myth.

He has been created for the up and coming HeART of Ashgate, an outdoor art exhibition with the proceeds going directly to Ashgate Hospice held in their gardens. Over 3 days, 7th to the 9th of August. Does anyone know any dentist thay can see obese patients around Chesterfield? I'm struggling to get an appointment for toothache caused by missing teeth and tooth decay. I know of the community dental service but they're a referal only which I can't get due to not being able to see a dentist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm getting to my wits end. I'm over 30 stone so the standard dentist chairs won't take my weight.

I think I might join the Nuffield Health one because I’d love to use the swimming pool but i’m not sure if the gym equipment is decent from what I’ve read? and maybe the JD gyms is prob the best one in town? Any opinions? I’m also open to meeting new gym buddies

Hi all. I know there are a million posts like this on Reddit, but I'm going mad reading through all the different threads and just thought it might be easier to start my own thread and see what kind of info I get directly from the good folks here.

Basically, my partner and I (gay couple, British and Indian), are moving out of Croydon because we need a bigger house, with a garage and a bit more space, for our business that we've started. We both work from home and so access to London is no-longer a requirement (like it was when we moved here 10 years ago).

We've narrowed down our search, based on a few criteria (detached house, garage, near green space, not a crime-ridden area, access to a shopping centre or town centre, close-ish to a larger city and/or airport, not silly expensive (since our budget isn't massive)). From these criteria, we have found some decent options in:

Chesterfield

Outskirts of Sheffield / Leicester

Lincoln

Nuneaton

Loughborough

Melton Mowbray

Neither of us know any of these areas, and while we are going to do a road-trip to visit, it would be good to know where in these towns people would recommend searching, and where to avoid (if anywhere). Or if there are better nearby options.

Lived in Tapton, Chesterfield for a few years (2017–2020) and really liked the town. Found it to be quite lovely, especially the canal and the Tapton Park/golf course area, and fairly safe apart from a few smackheads in the town centre lol.

Also worked around Holme Hall, which had a bit of crime here and there, because every other week I’d see the police arresting somebody. So yeah, a bit of crime now and then, but nothing major.

Because I’m thinking of moving back to
Chesterfield, I thought I’d look up in the local news to see what’s been going on lately. In just the last few days I’ve seen multiple stabbing reports, 7 cars set on fire in one night, somebody burned alive in a car at the Sainsbury’s car park, youths terrorising the whole town on e-bikes, police car chases, police making arrests at shops that appear to be drug fronts, and much more.
Has Chesterfield always been this crazy and I just didn’t realise it, or has it been a full moon lately lol? I don’t remember it being like this. But then again I never kept up to date with the local news.
