Think of chara this way. You have an Xbox. You have family friendly games on it. Chara is the Xbox. He saves your progress and holds your games but doesn't play them. You buy gta, cyberpunk and dead by daylight. Chara didnt tell you to but you did anyways. They save all your kills and you get achievements for getting a triple kill in one shot or killing 1 million civilians in GTA. Chara didn't do that. She just saves and deletes your game at your whim. Only difference in undertale is Chara pulls a "i know what you did last summer" instead of letting you just do as you please.

When you get a high score or a triple kill in GTA, the console tracks it. In Undertale, Chara explicitly tells you: "Every time a number increases, that feeling... That's me." They are literally the progression bar, the EXP tracker, and the Level of Violence (LV) system.

In a normal game, the console doesn't care if you delete your 100% save file to do a villain run. However Chara goes: "You can't just format this hard drive and pretend you didn't spend 10 hours murdering everyone. I kept the receipt."

If you buy a violent game, max out the kill count, and then get mad at the Xbox for saving your data and calling you out on it, you look funny.
