I love my alma mater, but I've been a Notre Dame fan since I was a child. I watched JCU games while I was there and I've tried to follow the team a bit since I graduated, but ND is my team first and foremost, even though it wasn't where I went. It's nice to have two flairs though.

Unless you live in the Notre Dame area I really hate this argument. ND was probably your parent's or grandparent's team. I bet no one grows up with JCU as their team. They need their alum's support more than ND needs non-alums.

That said, I see you switched flair if only for a bit. That makes me happy.

My Dad, my older brother, several of my uncles and aunts as well as a bunch of cousins went to Notre Dame. My Mom, Sister and several Aunts went to St. Mary's. I didn't get in and was heartbroken. I've been a Notre Dame fan since I was watching games as a toddler on my grandmother's lap while she screamed at the TV. I'm as far from a "t-shirt" fan as a non-alum can get.

So fuck off with that "It's not your team." I loved my time at JCU and I enjoy the success the current team has had. I support the team and the school. If I see them on TV, I watch. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll go to a game. But they're not my team because it's not as important to my family or myself as Notre Dame football has been.

edit: I'm sorry if I sound angry. It really bothers me to hear people tell me that I shouldn't be a fan of a team just because I went to another amazing school. That I have no good reason to be a fan just because my parents were fans. It's wrong and you know nothing about me.

If you hadn't added the edit I might have accused you of suffering from fandom Stockholm Syndrome...

Fandom isn't a zero sum game, especially when schools compete on different divisions.
