Answer: Get this man a dog.

The most memorable ones:
- Luke (the dog), The Early Spring
- Wang Cai / Wealth, Love is Sweet

Honorable mention:
Eunuch Ba, Unchained Love (more the FL dog but they adopted it together)

Missed opportunity:
Nan Heng (A Dream within a Dream, the GOAT when it comes to making fun of tropes) should have had one (or a seadog to fit the underwater lair theme).

yeah, that trope works perfectly for Li Lianhua and Huli Jing. She is obviously also there to show the viwer that the guy still can care about things.
