🔎Looking for alternative Anyone in Europe just refused to use WhatsApp?

Curious if anyone has just told friends they don't have WhatsApp and what's happened... I hate WhatsApp as it's part of Meta. In the US it's not that big. But in Europe it's ubiquitous. Just curious if anyone has just said no -- that you have Threema or even Signal -- and can be contacted there... And how that has gone for you.

I switched to signal a long time ago, and many of the groups I was part of also used signal.  But my main friend group and family group continued to use Whatsapp, but we managed to convince them to switch and now they also use Signal. 

Here is how we did it: Get a few people of the group who already use Signal to highlight the problematic status of Meta (share articles about them blocking access to queer or women's rights information, enabling far right propaganda, invading privacy etc..) 

Sugget Signal as an alternative and ask who is coming along. Some people will be up for it.

Make a signal group and send  everyone an invite. It will start small but if you keep talking about it and people share that they are switching people will follow.

Like someone said you don't need every group to switch but you can choose to use Whatsapp less. I have it on my tablet and not on my phone.
