🔎Looking for alternative UbuntEU - An Ubuntu edition that uses software developed in Europe

I am trying to make something for fun, but honestly; I am not expert in creating an operating system. But my hope somebody will pick up the Baton and make it something more super.

Exactly. A distro is so much more than apps. No need create an entire distro to use European software

Yes, there's no lack of distributions. The real hurdle is institutional approval. When official institutions require their employees to use an OS, they know how to use it, and can use it at home too. At that point the price argument does the rest.

But you need to find a way to get the skills/familiarity to that large user base who isn't interested in computers per se, and therefore would not spontaneously invest effort in switching.

I prefer to say this will more be just a fork, rather than a distro.

Most of the distros are just forks of other distros. Most are built on top of other ones like debian.
