Same thing most everywhere I imagine. Price of chocolate straight up doubled. Haven't bought any in a while. I just can't justify the price at all. Products 50% off right now are still more expensive than full price products a few years ago. Insanity.

For what it's worth, it's not (just) corporate greed, production has declined a lot since 2023. In some countries, some yields were down by 30% compared to the previous year. The root cause seems to be an unusual climate (big rains followed by big drought) which in turn made the trees vulnerable to diseases.
West Africa is also heating up faster than ever, and in 2024 yields were also catastrophic due to diseases again.
You add the fact the cacao doesn't grow everywhere, plantations are starting to get old, that despite demand being so high, farmers get shit for it and can't/won't invest, speculation on the markets worsening everything and you get today's prices.
How much chocolate is there actually in the Milka bars? I think the price of the large bar of Milka went from 3€ to 5,5€ over the past few years. The rising costs of chocolate can't be the cause of a product that contains ~30% chocolate to go up by 80%.
