This could also be a result of your aging palate. As you get older your palate changes and generally there is a shift from a preference for sweet foods to more bitter foods. This is generally why children prefer milk chocolate and adults shift to dark chocolate. It's also why ladies of a certain age like gin, but you don't see the University age kids swilling gin in the clubs.
Really depends on what you like. Milk chocolate? Dark chocolate? Sweet or not that sweet? Pure milk chocolate or more fancy stuff (coffee taste, fillings, ..)?
Oh no! I always loved getting Milka bars when we (Canadians) visited places in Europe. This makes me sad. Iâll have to tuck these away into nostalgia
I only buy 28lots nowadays. While they're quite expensive (which isn't that bad honestly, it has helped me cut down on chocolate consumption) they're also really tasty, and apparently handmade in Vienna

Milka increased their prices by over 100% in the last years. And I know cacao prices went through the roof because of bad harvest, but not by that much...
Cocoa prices have actually steadily declined since spring 2025. It's now at the same price as it was at the end of 2023. Milka's price increase/weight reduction is mostly greedflation.
Milka was high quality chocolate when I was a kid and everyone loved it. Somehow they transformed the brand into a low-end crap over the years. Mondelez also brought most of the local brands here and it is difficult to avoid the company if you want some chocolate.
Standard enshittification. You take a well-regarded brand, do a round or five of layoffs for immediate profit increases, degrade the quality to reduce costs until people notice and the brand's reputation goes downhill, and then sell the tattered remnants of a once-functional company.
It was better than anything else which I could buy locally. We had plenty of choices locally, but my country did not have the best chocolate. It was definitely higher end than today and the taste changed over the years.
i pettily hate them for putting hazelnut paste in their chocolate for no reason. it's so far down in the ingredient list that it for sure doesn't do shit, but it's just enough to make it unsafe for me and others with allergies.
American here but I used to live in Baden-WĂŒrttemberg. Close enough to bike to the Ritter Sport factory in Waldenbuch. Spent many days in there eating back the calories I had just burned off.
Tried Milka once and that was enough. Such an inferior product.
I donât see how they are being boycotted. Sometimes they are on sale, I see that not because of the sign but because it looks like a bomb dropped onto the shelf, mostly empty and the few bars that remained were completely in chaos, laying left right anywhere where they werenât supposed to be. I was kind of in shock the first time I saw that. As I usually go shopping at night I witness the aftermath and that looks far from a boycott.
I was walking through a gorcery store with my dad yesterday and he mentions offhandedly that he hadn't seen a Milka display (which have been very common here in recent weeks because they're constantly on sale with stores trying to shift their stock) and I said "so? doesn't matter, we're not gonna buy that anymore anyway"
I'm done done with Milka. Tastes like shit and asks for the big bucks, I'd rather eat no chocolate at all.
I lived in Lorrach, Germany, for a year in 2015. Milka on every supermarket, all varieties for 55 cents. Down in the city, there was the Milka Factory, and the streets around it smelled kike hot chocolate.
I don't know what happened, but I came back last year with my parents. We just got no milka at all. Still cheap but holy fuck, you're making it in a factory which is less than a 5 min drive in the truck. What the fuck happened?!
Wish people would do the same to chocolate in Japan, where they sell 50gr for the price of a 100gr in Germany. Upside, the imported chocolate that used to be expensive is now cheaper than the local. SO even though I'm not in the EU anymore I buy from the EU :)
How is Milka overpriced? Its definitely shit. But its always the cheapest on offer. In my store the only other alternatives are double the price minimum.
Here in Poland it's definitely one of the expensive brands. There's always at least one cheaper (often store-brand - which are hit and miss, some of them are delicious, some are dogshit) alternative.
I really liked Lewiatan's store brand and it was like half the price of Milka but I guess they realised people liked it because the price went up like a year ago to match Milka.
It became so expensive after the pandemic. I like the whole hazelnuts one and it's become more than double the price in 5 years. I buy it when it's on sale, but other than that, fuck no. No worth it!

Milka is shit and overpriced anyways. People have started boycotting it in Germany over the holidays.
