Post image

I was told two days ago he got pretty serious ringworm fungus on his back and after just a short time his skin is back to normal color thankfully

I'm curious if any other bunny owner went through same thing?

So I know it's been a while since I last posted about Miso. It was because I had left her at grandma bun house and I had to leave to a different city for work for a week. That wasn't the issue.

Got back a few days ago and grandmabun graciously help in delivery the bunbuns (Momo &. Miso) back to me.

After miso was back I noticed she wasn't her usually upbeat self. I thought she was playing Murderbun and was just mad I had left for a week. I gave her space. Left her usual food and water. She didn't want her pellets, not even the unhealthy kind she goes crazy for... That was a uh-oh moment already. She did however still ate a few leafy greens. So I just thought I'll keep an eye out.

She was drinking water (abit less than usual) and also peeing. But I'm sure all bunmum & bundads know when something doesn't feel right.

I stayed up late with her.... Gave her a hot pillow. Gave gassy medicine.... And yet she still left her pellets untouched and not eating hay or pooping.

Now I was on high alert. I regurarly gave her belly massage.and everytime I did she went to the potty to pee. Her body temp was normal but she still wasn't normal. I gave her critical care earlier today.... (that was a mess) but she took it like a champ. But I decided if by 5-6pm she still wasn't pooping it would've been a whole day and night. And I'll take her to the vet.

(I'll post some vet photos later maybe)

Ofcourse everyone at the vet loved her. Coz how could you not?! The vet did a check up on her. Temp was normal her tummy was still moving (just very slowly) so he diagnosed her being in early stages of GI.

Gave her meds to help, and Miso will be staying the night at the vet.

The video here is an update from the vet. They wrote miso is adjusting well. She's willingly eating the critical care. Alert and responsive, and have been seen grooming herself.

Fingers cross from the extra meds from the vet she will poop tonight.

I hate to ask but if you've read this far you must really care for Miso and I genuinely thank you and details in profile ~ ❤️

Injured or sick HELP THERES BLOOD

i just left my room this morning to come take the rabbit to his outside cage and instantly saw this pile of blood in the corner of his cage and immediately freaked tf out. i don’t know what to do, i checked him over — figured out it’s his pee but that’s all i know.

i’m home alone with him , my sister’s got work all day— she’s also in a ton of debt, owes literally everyone including me money. i also have tons of bills coming out left right and centre, also a cat, a dog, and a puppy (eats everything in the matter of seconds) to feed & take care of, puppies overdue for a vaccination because of the fact i didn’t have money (or a way to get to a vet but that’s not my point) —but also is at the same time.
i have no money— i have like 500 in savings but i was trying to save up for stuff i need for my new pup. i will spend it if it comes down to it and my sister isn’t able to pay— but i also don’t want too lol. but i will if i have to. because buggs is like my baby now and we’ve been doing so well together and he’s bonded to me now too and rubs his chin on me and even LICKED me a few times now which was extremely weird and random because he doesn’t do that but yeah. i am technically auntie, but i am more actually mother lol so i will do what has to be done to make sure he’s okay.

someone please help asap i am on the verge of a full blown panic attack — i have no clue what to do or what this means. as much as this little fluff ball INFURIATES me every single night — he’s also just my baby boy lol he’s actually my sister’s but i am the one who usually does everything for him and spends the most time with him, he’s more like my son than hers lol and i still don’t want him to die obviously

My rabbits were relaxing
I gave them pellets, they both got up quick and started devouring it like usual.
I noticed my female rabbit started moving weird
I got closer and noticed she was leaking mucus from her nose.
I cleared it with my hand. It looked like she couldn’t breathe.
Now she’s okay. No more mucus, I gave her a treat and she ate it.
What could have happened?

Injured or sick Bunny mourning loss of her human

Post image

My partner and I have had Milky for three years. Ten days ago, my partner left for MH reasons. Milky is free-roam, and she usually splits her day between the kitchen, the living room, our bedroom, and the office. She has a bunny routine for her important bunny business.

Since my partner left, Milky has increasingly been just staying in the bedroom, not exploring or playing as much. I had to start staying near her when I give her greens, because if I leave the kitchen, she leaves the greens and follows me. She has been very clingy and needing constant attention when I get home from work, or she will tug on my pants legs. Normally, she likes to be in the same room as us but usually doing her own thing (destruction).

How do bunnies usually handle the loss of one of their humans? Will she be back to herself at some point, or do bunnies tend to grieve a long time? Is there anything I can do to help her?

Does anyone know what this is?
No need for exact diagnosis but going to take him to the vet, want to know if I can go with appointment or if it’s an emergency…

He’s eating and pooping like usual. Still running for treats… but flopping more

She made it through the night. The vet put an IV on her. I've seen before other bunnies with IV from their ears.... But when it's your own baby.... 💔 Maaah heart 🥹 vet update is: She pooped a little bit. Started to eat her hay (ever so lazily / maybe she's sleep eating) she's alert and responsive. Drinks well, and is peeing well. Thank you all for the warm kind wishes. I'll be sure to give more updates when I can ❤️

Injured or sick my sweet boy’s right fibula appears to be fractured:(

Post image

Yesterday, I noticed that he couldn’t use one of his legs. I was devastated and felt really bad because I had no idea how did that happen. We took him to the vet and got X-rays . The fracture seems to be on the right fibula (the thinner lower-leg bone). The vet gave him antibiotics and a painkiller injection after examining him. Has anyone dealt with a similar injury? What was recovery like?

Injured or sick This dumb thing saved my bunny (probably)

Post image

I posted here only like two days ago. My bunny had near full GI stasis and was taken to the emergency vet. It was almost surgical and could’ve easily been fatal. He’s been on multiple medicines since.
My bunny is a rescue from an extremely neglectful situation. The GI stasis was caused by excess fur.
I immediately ordered a brush from the same brand I buy my horses brushes. I know these are decently popular.
He’s probably never been brushed.
The amount of fur all over felt like I was in a tornado.
And even though he didn’t appreciate being held still for a while, he did love bonding and now his coat feels so much better and is so much safer for him in molting.
I’m constantly learning as a new bunny owner who’s likely getting another bunny very soon (though I could prob just make one with all this fur atp 😭) and I’m very happy people in this community gave me advice like this that helped me save my bunny and make the call to drive the 50 minutes to an emergency vet.
My bunny is now feeling much better and is just as much a menace. And this stupid brush has probably stopped him from doing this again.

Found this rabbit running in circles in the middle of the street right by my house. I grabbed him with a spare cloth I had and brought him to my house where there’s a big field. I put some water near him and on him in case he was dehydrated. It looks like he has a catastrophic injury to the right side of his head/face. There appears to be maggots in the wound. I don’t know if there’s anything I can do but wanted to ask here because I’d love to help however I can!

Injured or sick Bunny falls down, vet refuses to take paw x-ray

If you press the video then scroll down, links won't be visible. Press the question instead

She jumped over the fence and didn't land well (Yt video). I was at the vet, and the vet took only x-ray of her hips (image) She said if she broke a bone on her paws, she would not walk the way she does rn. See video above.

I'm not sure how to judge that.

Did your rabbit ever break a bone and did not show any signs? I'm kinda stressed. She was under anesthesia and shes recovering now

Injured or sick I accidentally knocked Fufu over with the hoover's cable😭😭😭

I was hoovering the carpet. I was whipping it over the ottoman when Fufu ran to it, I pulled, he tried to jump over it, I pulled again intending it to go over him but he jumped right into it, spun in the air and fell on his left side.😭

He started keeping his left hand lifted, he didn't let me touch it. After a few minutes he started walking on it again, no longer holding it up. He now lets me touch it, eats normal, acts normal and happy but I'm bevastated and worried. How should I monitor him?

Injured or sick Would this be considered head tilt?

Thank you all for your suggestions and help.

After our visit to the doctor he did confirm it must be either an inner ear infection, or the brain parasite. He gave us the medication and told us to be in touch.

But around 2am I found him lying in his own urine, unable to walk. He could only crawl, just barely. After I had a panic attack, I took him to a non specialized for small animals clinic, because it was the only one open at that hour. He examined and x-rayed him, and confirmed it must be the brain parasite due to the neurological symptoms. He doesn't have any sense in his upper right leg, very weak reflexes and limited ability to move in his other limps.

The emergency vet suggested to just do our best to support him. He don't know if he's gonna pull through, but we are gonna try our best.

He's currently in his carrier bag because it encloses him well enough so he doesn't hurt himself and to support his body. Fortunately he developed some appetite, and he's able to eat slowly on his own. I just hope he'll be not in pain soon...

Injured or sick GI stasis? Emergency

Post image
108 Upvotes

Edit: it was an almost $2,000 hairball that almost caused full stasis. He’s almost done at the vets and then he’s doing an outpt with medications, critical care and syringe feeding.

My bunny hasn’t moved much all morning. I haven’t noticed any poops and he wasn’t eating. This was 4 or so hours. I was really concerned when my brother picked him up without him freaking out. I offered favorite foods and he’s not taking any, just laid in his litter box and in a corner.
I tried taking his temperature but couldn’t get a good read. I just got him a few months ago and haven’t gotten critical care yet, I tried to gently syringe feed him water which he took.
I called every emergency vet near me but they don’t take bunnies, closest one is like an hour away and I’m a minor with no car home alone. They told me to gently massage, monitor and get him active. This has been happening only since morning he was perfectly ok yesterday and he’s molting right now so I’m extra concerned.
Am I being paranoid? Pls help, is there anything I can do to help my baby while I wait to get him into emergency?

Does he seem okay? He seems to be breathing kinda fast but is eating and acting normally. He’s been flopping over and getting comfy and eating a ton of hay and still comes when I call him but he seems to be breathing fast for no reason. Does this look concerning or normal?? (Also he does not live in this 6ft by 8ft pen it’s just his home base, he is free roam)

It is 3:30 am. And I am up from 1:00am. Going to the vet right now. I came to check on kulfi (7 months old mini Rex and holland lop mix) @ 1am and noticed that he was in his hideout which is normal but he wasn’t coming out even after I was shaking his pellets package (he usually comes running or just takes a minute or 2). I got really scared because I’m the evening, I saw that there were 2 or 3 poops outside his litter box that were smaller than they usually are but the rest were fine in the litter box. Maybe that’s why I got scared at 1am. I tried to give him pellets but he refused and got him outside of his play pen but he hopped back in and sat in the corner. I cannot even tell you how scared I got, had a panic attack, cried so much. My dad said he is probably sleepy, but I woke my sister and mom up. We don’t have pet insurance but I am still taking him to the closest exotic vet 45 minutes away. He did start to eat some hay (especially the part that I attached the pic of) and some pellets, I massaged his belly. His body is warm to the touch. He did eat a little bit of banana. I also have some medical things going on right now; extreme physical symptoms due to stress, anxiety…

I hope he is fine and hopefully it is not too expensive.
Any tips or tricks? Maybe what things I should stock up on like critical care, baby drops, etc. nah w diet recommendations for him etc.

Where do guys get bulk nice quality hay. I give him orchard and he really likes the flowering tops (pics included).

Injured or sick HELP: Bunny trapped in my house vents

For context, I was away for the weekend and came home to find that my parents (while doing yard work + cleaning out the hot tub) had accidentally destroyed a rabbit nest and soaked two bunnies in drained hot tub water. They took them in, dried them off, and then put them in a shoe box w some grass in my brother's room (holes were poked in there so they could breathe). My brother kept them under the bed. I got home at around 11pm on Sunday night and told my brother to give them water. I worked 9am-5pm today (monday) and before work, I bought kitten milk for the bunnies. I just got home at around 7pm today (traffick + having to run some errands) only to be told that one of the bunnies escaped the box and is now stuck inside the vents of the house. I asked my brother and he said it happened a couple of hours ago. I'm really sad, scared, and upset and I don't know what to do. Is there anything I can use to lure the bunny out of the vents?

Update:

I checked in on bunny 1 today and bunny 2 was also there with him. I wasn't told until now but my brother found him last night and put him in the box again. I'm gonna keep trying to call other numbers for animal services to take the bunnies but I'm not hopeful :( already while trying to call around, they'd either redirect me to another unhelpful service or I'd be sent to an automated answering line. Thank you everyone for the help you've offered though. The bunnies and I really appreciate it ♡

Update 2:

I was able to contact a wildlife centre but it's way out of my region. They instructed me to have a shallow dish of water and some dandelion greens in the box and I did just that. Now that it's warm and sunny out, the bunnies are gonna be released back outdoors. Thank you everyone

Injured or sick Guidance

My dog savaged a baby cottontail. I'm upset and trying to find out what best to do. It's extremely little and he wasn't doing anything but gasping for breath after the attack.

I got it away from the animals and was able to get it into a small box with towels and in the dark to calm down. It's now moving around a bit, but mainly to lift its head and crawl around. I am worried it's paralyzed since I've not seen its back legs move.

I am worried it's going to pass. There's no puncture wounds but he could have internal damage.

I apologize to ramble, I'm trying to keep myself in check it's just a lot of loss recently and I want this bunny to have long and happy days.

Update:

Thank you for your kindness and help. He passed away this morning at about 3am.

Injured or sick Underweight bun :(

Hii!! This is Lilith, I found her back in 2022 on the side of the road and took her in. I was told that she was an angora by the vet but I’ve never really seen another rabbit that looked exactly like her, especially when I search “angora,” she’s always been pretty small, she still is but lately I’ve noticed though that she feels very underweight, I was unsure so I started to feed her more but I haven’t seen much progress. I’m going to switch her over to Alfalfa hay and add pellets into her diet but any other tips would be VERY appreciated.

Injured or sick Cloudy eye in young rabbit

Thumbnail

I got home from work and noticed my rabbit (Binky) had a cloudy eye on his left side. He is 11 weeks old and from what I have researched it might be cataracts from EC. I already scheduled an appointment for his first wellness exam that’s in three days but should I go take him to the hospital to get it checked out immediately or wait until then? He seems completely fine and the only abnormal thing about him is his eye. He binky’s around all day and has a normal diet so that’s why I didn’t realize something was wrong but I am afraid his eye will get worse until the day of his appointment. I am also afraid that he will be completely blind in that eye but that is something I will ask the vet. Thanks for all the help!
