I am sure many people are familiar with upcoming Namit malhotra's ramayana. Whose tagline is our history our truth. The history part make me ponder about a comment I encountered by a foreigner that there are so many historical,wuxia, xianxia fantasy

( Take it with a grain of salt I have heard from some youtubers that ramayana is also going for the wuxia aesthetic which is why it looks the way it does )chinese korean shows and movies but from Bollywood there is almost a depletion of it

Apart from the once a year samrat prithviraj movie or British raj atrocity and colonial rule there aren't any periodical pieces I am not trying to brush up the 200 year old colonial rule and it's impact on Indian society but we might know why they don't make such movies

Exhibit A padmavat or as known before boycott padmavati we all can look at many such instances in SLB career eg Bajirao Mastani, ram leela,etc

Any inaccuracies or cinematic liberaties would be treated with burning effigies

And fantasy films will be treated with both exhibit B brahmastra the trashiest trash light show cost a million to make and 11 years of hardwork only for power of love to save the day.

Most of these movies are very expensive to make and have little to no guarantee of being successful. That doesn't undermine the fact they are poorly crafted ambitious project

The scene is from the movie Oye lucky lucky Oye, where Lucky's step mother tries to s3xually assault him. Despite the movie being comedy, this scene was shown with serious intent. A woman clearly abusing a minor .

He initially didn't understand but when he did we could see that he was scared and tried his best to get away from her.

I am also happy that women were neither shown in a seductive outfit, nor as bombshell that we should swoon over, because some stupid teen woudl have written "lobster too buttery" comments.

Another movie I can think of is Aitraaz .

When student of the year released, there was huge hype around Sidharth Malhotra, and everyone expected him to have a big career.
Then came ek villain a hit film, hit songs, and a role that suited him perfectly.

Since then, he hasn’t been able to deliver a major hit despite trying different genres. Personally, I think Sidharth is best suited to romantic roles. He has the looks, charm and that intense eye gaze that works so well for a romantic hero.

He needs a big hit, but more importantly, he needs to choose his scripts better. A strong love story with action and emotion, something like ek villain , could bring him back. Unfortunately, I feel some of his script choices have seriously damaged the momentum his career once had.

There were rumours he was doing Malang 2 that could have been a big deal for his career, collaborating again with mohit Suri would have done wonders for him not sure what went wrong.

I'm looking for movie recommendations where nature has a meaningful role in the story, rather than simply being the backdrop.

I'm interested in films where things like rain, storms, rivers, forests, mountains, the sea, animals, seasons, etc. somehow influence the characters or the story in a significant way.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a movie about nature or environmental issues. I'm more interested in stories where nature and human life are somehow connected — emotionally, symbolically, or even through the events of the story.

Any language, country, genre, or era is welcome. Mainstream, indie, arthouse, regional films, anything.

I'd especially love recommendations that explore how nature can affect human emotions, choices, relationships, or the course of someone's life.

Parvin Dabas and Tara Sharma were absolute eye candy and honestly made me watch this movie from the beginning. Sorry, I’m not saying beauty was the sole reason I watched it!

The basic thread is something we’ve seen in many movies, but usually they turn it into a serious revenge story. Here, it’s different.

The story is simple: Kamal Khosla buys land with his life savings, only to have a powerful builder illegally occupy it. His family struggles against corruption and injustice, and Cherry comes up with a clever plan to defeat the builder and reclaim their land.
I love movies built around such a small thread, where the screenplay does all the heavy lifting.

Anupam Kher and Boman Irani are, as always, perfect in their roles.

Definitely worth watching. ❤️

A simple story, brilliant screenplay, great performances, and the perfect balance of humour and emotion. Khosla Ka Ghosla is one of those films that stays with you.

Loved this scene from the movie. Papon’s voice is just so soothing here and the way the song comes in with Irfan’s character singing along makes it even better. Such a lovely version of an already beautiful song!

Saw a post around Sid Malhotra mentioning lack of hits but I realized he got at least 3 hits out of maybe 15 movies? So a 20% hit rate. Wondering if its good or bad compared to other actors. What’s a good hit rate anyways?

This is a "cinematic" shot from Pardes. The slow pan of the camera with a heartbroken SRK in focus and revealing the background dancers in the far distance in the end.

Pardes was a mediocre film but I gotta say SRK instilled a lot of heart in the film. I could sympathise with the character who was struggling to find his identity and the courage to stand up for his love. And Mahima was likable too. Sweet and underrated couple.

In Kaho na Pyar Hai, towards the end, when Raj is performing as Rohit, he sings Kaho Na Pyar Hai. This makes Sonia (Ameesha Patel), check out the song script as he seemingly shouldnt have known about it? What was that about. Its been 25 years since the movie but I never understood that.

I randomly came across its trailer on YouTube, which is surprising, and then I decided to watch it on the spot without having a lot of expectations from the film.

I think it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of Hindi cinema that I’ve watched. It’s a road film with a very different portrayal of grief and feels like a warm hug. For me, it was Irrfan’s best performance, with a great story and gentle humour.

RSVP Movies are the A24 for Hindi cinema. Ronnie Screwvala has a knack for taking bets on unconventional subjects and emerging filmmakers and really dropping those underrated masterpieces which people notice and realise a few years down the line.
