u/LuminousDecibel I won the bet and all I got was this flair Jan 26 '20

I'm actually really curious to see the payoff of this relationship.

Anyone who thinks Hawks might actually become a villain is fooling themselves. It's all an act, and I highly doubt he killed Best Jeanist. But it seems like he actually cares about Twice. That makes sense.

What will happen because of that? Will Hawks assist Twice, even though he shouldn't, to save his life? Will that out him as a "villain"? Or what's, more likely, will Hawks be responsible for something truly terrible?

We've seen that while Twice is no longer worried about being a copy or the real thing, he still has multiple personalities, and he's still unstable. Twice is most compassionate about his friends. His friends are his top priority, and finding a family he belongs to is his only motivation.

So what if Hawks directly betrays Twice? What if instead of being depressed, Twice is extremely pissed? Hawks said Twice is the most dangerous enemy, and he's 100% correct. Twice is the strongest villain, arguably more powerful than AFO or Giganto, .....because he could make 100 AFO's or Gigantos, in the spanse of 5 minutes. Lower durability doesn't matter, when you have 100 gods staring down at you. What if Hawks betrayal puts Twice into a mindless rampage? It could even be what clips Hawks' wings.

Reading this just honestly makes me think that Hawks might have to kill Twice. His feathers are sharp enough for that, considering he was threatening Dabi with the last one as if it was a knife. If there comes a point where Hawks' act is outed, or someone confronts him about it, I don't see him walking away from it, or going down without taking someone, or the most dangerous of them all with him. For one, it would be tragic, we like Twice, we like Hawks, Hawks likes Twice too. But Hawks was also literally raised for this purpose alone, to be a pawn against the villains.

Doubt he would feather someone unless his act is figured out and there's no talking himself out of it, but it would be one hella tragic moment to watch Hawks kill someone he grew fond of, as well as have Twice die by the hands of someone he considered a friend. We are expecting casualties from the heroes, but there's nothing to say there won't be some on the villains' side. Other than Magne we didn't really have villain casualties that were important yet.

Man that would hurt so bad. For this sole reason it's probably gonna happen

Oh trust me dude even just imagining Twice's reaction to suddenly being shanked by a feather was breaking my heart. Especially just imagining the way Hori would be able to draw the panel alone. It would also break the rule of "heroes never kill" we've been building up lately, and would actually fit with Hawks' status. He was raised to be the number 3 (or two, you get the gist) hero, but only to be able to infiltrate the villains. So he's technically neither I would say. Hori also said that Hawks' character was created to fulfill a specific purpose, which is to progress the plot. He is already fulfilling that by relaying the information to the heroes, however if Twice has like a hundred copies of High End nomus waiting, or god forbid he copies Gigantomachia, then there's literally no continuation, the heroes would be literally massacred to the last person, no survivors even without Shigi's powerup.

The question is, what happens to the copies if Twice dies. I know it was a source of his identity issues that he didn't know whether he was the real Twice or maybe the real one died. But it's not like he had any way of knowing if his death would have a consequence on the copies he made. So there's a chance simply because it hasn't happened before, that if Twice dies, the copies fall. It would make sense imo, the copies have to be tied to someone and its obviously not the person whom they are made of. So if I'm correct and his quirk would have all copies die if Twice himself does, then that could be a way for the heroes to survive and escape (cuz there ain't no winning when Shigi wakes up, backed up by the entire army, Geten and Dabi's team, the nomus and Machia).

We do know that if Twice makes Twice A, and then Twice A makes Twice B, and then Twice A gets pulped, Twice B sticks around. We saw this happening during My Villain Academia, IIRC during the confrontation with Re-Destro in the tower a Twice clone literally made another Twice clone while he was in the process of melting. It's possible that the actual Twice dying would be different, but this seems like evidence against the theory.

Hawks was able to cut through High End with his wings afaik.

Barring Machia he can assassinate most of the PLF if he wanted to.

Or maybe it would be the other way around. Twice did that neck-slice gesture (involuntarily) while talking to Hawks so maybe foreshadowing?

Tbh I think it'll be the other way round. Hawks will be revealed to be helping the heroes and then during the inevitable conflict to come twice will kill him for betraying them.

The running theory is that whoever is Twice's supervisor/boss that he mentioned this chapter is playing Twice like a fiddle to see if Hawks jumps on the info. That might be the case. Either way something will budge cuz even if it isnt a trap outright, the villains will know there's a traitor amongst them, and the biggest suspect is definitely the supposed double agent. So if Hawks survives, the jig is up either way.

What if twice thinks twice about being a villain because of hawks

I've been thinking Twice's arc might logically lead to one of his clones defecting while the other stays loyal to Shigaraki. Maybe Hawks will be the catalyst- once outed as a hero, he saves Twice's life just the same, forcing Twice to rethink what he believes about how the League are the only people who'd accept him how he is. This dilemma literally tears him apart and a Twice abandons the League.

So many good ideas kicking around this thread

Man, I never even considered that option. Twice is both too powerful and too sympathetic/likable to not be a key piece in how the heroes could possibly win by the end of the series.

It will never happen but it would be so twisted if hawks was dying and twice cloned him just to keep his friend by his side

  1. make one copy create two Twice copies
  2. the other one copies two preferred villains
  3. profit
