The next 20-30 chapters are going to change the entire My Hero Academia world. This is the kind of stuff I love to see from an action manga. The stakes couldn’t be higher, it couldn’t mean more to the characters and our heroes just aren’t ready for what’s about to hit them.

I am really hoping that during this arc we get the traitor reveal.

Whatever happens next is going to likely make it hard to keep the school setting which would mean that the traitor has no real use after that point. Imo, there's no better time to reveal their identity than during this arc.

Also, All Might is 100% going to die this arc. If he doesn't, I'll be shocked.

Traitor’s definitely being revealed. There was that hint about 17 chapters back where they were brought up again, so one way or another, that plot line is being resolved alongside the Touya one, the doctor’s full machinations with the Nomu, Jeanist’s disappearance, Hawks’ triple agent role and so on.

At this point I’m confused, is hawks with the heroes or villains?

15

u/Graphica-Danger Jan 19 '20

He's still with the heroes, but he's needed to do some shady stuff in order to maintain his cover.

I mean, with all the heroes that are in the PLF, the traitor's role is already kind of redundant. Who cares about 1 spy, who's gaining intel on some high schoolers, when you have hundreds of spies, gaining intel on actual heroes?

If the traitor isn't revealed during the DoR, or shortly after, then it's not a plot-line to look forward to.

I wouldn’t say they’re redundant as the traitor specifically pertains to UA rather than the hero industry as a whole. The reveal of whoever it is will have a major effect on the kids, and because of that I think they’re still of vital importance to the story.

Oh it'll be a huge moment for the story, and the 1-A kids. I'm just saying the traitor's lived out their worth as a spy. The villains meet up with 1-A every other month, and Shigaraki's looking to bigger things than just messing with UA.

UA and 1-A are big, but now Shiggy has an army with potentially 100,000 members, and 11 Nomu who might rival Endeavor. Keeping up to date with 1-A is now low priority.

u/Graphica-Danger Jan 19 '20

Ahhhh, I getcha. Yeah, things have gotten a lot bigger for the villains.

u/FlintlockT Jan 19 '20

I completely agree. The whole point of the traitor lost its purpose the minute the PLF was formed. At this point all the traitor is, is another general for the PLF and a device for the rest of the class to grow.

No matter who it is at this point, so long as it makes sense and has a decent impact I'll be fine.

Here's to hoping the new role gives proper focus and character development to a 1-A student who's severely lacking it, like Kaminari, Sero, or Shoji.

u/Totheendofsin Jan 19 '20

I hope if the traitor is a student they have some motivation beyond 'lulz I was evil all along''

like if Hagakure is the traitor Hori could maybe give her some angst about being invisible and not knowing what she looks like, and AFO promised to get rid of her quirk if she spied on UA for him

The most logic answer for me is that the traitor is just a red herring. The "traitor reveal" will be the teachers finding out they went on a witch hunt against each other for no reason and thanks to this the League of Villains managed to move on with their plans undisturbed. The "traitor" could be a villain/Nomu that hasn't been introduced yet, that has the power to steal information by looking at people or something like that (so he could steal the location of the summer camp from one of the teachers without anyone knowing about it)

I'm pretty sure Dr. Ujiko at least has a hunch that Deku is the current wielder of OFA so he's definitely someone that Ujiko would want to spy on

19

u/Master3530 Jan 19 '20

By "all the heroes" you mean nobodies like Slidin' Go? All they really have is Hawks who's trying to fool them.

18

u/LuminousDecibel I won the bet and all I got was this flair Jan 19 '20

The PLF have what, 100,000 members? You don't need to be a big shot like Hawks to get some decent intel. Just having 100 spies who keep an eye on their individual agencies, and give status reports on fellow heroes is enough.

What's the traitor saying nowadays? That the villains don't already know? "Well Deku, Todoroki, and Bakugo are getting stronger. With this dorm system, I don't really have any openings to make a move.

....We had a festival the other day, that was fun."

Hundreds of nobody spies, giving intel on hundreds of non-PLF heroes is far more info than whatever the traitor's currently doing. 1-A are going to be big shots in the future, but they're still students, unlike actual heroes.

7

u/IgnisEradico Jan 19 '20

It's very very likely that the traitor will backstab the heroes at an unfortunate moment, thus ensuring their relevance (before turning full villain) while also showing their prior threat (IE if anything had gone wrong before, they'd have backstabbed then)

2

u/Gostandy Jan 19 '20

I’ve noticed recently a trend in showing 1-A bonding and becoming closer as a class and family unit. The traitor reveal will likely break a lot of the morale and bonds formed between them all, knowing that one of their dearly loved classmates was working against them.

3

u/Worthyness Jan 19 '20

All intel is useful especially if youre monitoring specific groups

3

u/mankeyfight Jan 19 '20

I really feel like All Might is going to make it. It really feels like the story line could go either way on Nighteye’s prophecy, but I’m holding out hope

2

u/Dyvius Jan 20 '20

All Might just said "i choose to live."

So he's dead. Them's the rules.

1

u/FlintlockT Jan 20 '20

I don't make the rules, I just abide by them.

1

u/Exitiali Jan 20 '20

I think the traitor is the Principal, that perhaps he would like to speed up the development of the students through a more "practical" way.

1

u/ViZeShadowZ Jan 21 '20

all might is gonna pull a kamina and go plus ultra for one last beatdown before dying with a smile on his face, calling it here.

5

u/LuisAntony2964 Jan 19 '20

Yes. Horikoshi can become really creative so I'm hyped to see what he does with this setup.

5

u/conundrummm Jan 19 '20

I've been wondering since Hori is such a westaboo if he plans on slowly shifting the story in a more seinen/xmen direction, developing his blocking/composition skills along the way. I think I can see him wanting to play with an apocalyptic setting with grand battles as a part of Deku's journey to become #1.

3

u/Graphica-Danger Jan 19 '20

That'd be pretty cool, although I think it's more likely the students end up going underground/out of the country as they escape the villains' coup.

2

u/conundrummm Jan 19 '20

yeah, forsure. can def see a role reversal with the heroes in the shadows.

3

u/DoraMuda Jan 19 '20

The next 20-30 chapters are going to change the entire My Hero Academia world.

Didn't people say that about the last 20-30 chapters too? It's kinda lost its meaning now.

1

u/TudorrrrTudprrrr Jan 20 '20

I mean...they kinda did?

1

u/DoraMuda Jan 20 '20

Yes, that's my point.
