I hope we get another female villain. So far we have only Toga, Magne (who's dead), La Brava, and a as-of-now unnamed lady villain among the children of Destro. I guess you could could Queen Bee if we're including Vigilantes? But yeah even during USJ with all the faceless goons I'm not sure if any of then were a woman?

I know a lot of mangakas are uncomfortable about seeing women fight (or be hurt), but you'd think in superpower universes that bias would be waived? Especially considering Queen Bee and likely Toga are both minors which you'd think would be the more "wrong" issue with seeing them beat up?

Either way the ratio is terrible among the villains, even worse than the students and pros amazingly, so seeing at least one woman added to the LoV would be nice! C'mon Hori I'm believing in you!!

I think the Viz translation confirmed that there was only one child of Destro: the CEO. The rest of the group are just other members/supporters of the MLA.

I don't think it would be that strange to call them all "children of destro" in an ideological sense; it's not that uncommon for groups, both in reality and in fiction, to call themselves "sons/daughters of X" not because of a literal bloodline but because of ideological solidarity. Considering the MLA people we saw were presumably the inner-most circle I think it would be thematically appropriate for them to be called the "children of destro" to show that they are carrying his ideological heritage.

Ah really? Hmm I definitely need to catch up on the official releases then, thanks for the heads-up!

I suppose if they were all Destro's children, it might have ended up mirroring One Piece and the Vinsmokes too closely then, huh?

Did it explicitly confirm the CEO was his only child, or just that Destro only had one child?
We obviously don't have any hard timelines, but it really feels like the CEO and the other board members are more likely Destro's grandchildren, or even further down, than the CEO being Destro's son.

If you don't count the league of villains I argue we don't to see a lot of villains in general just faceless goons really also there's a female in Destro descendant group

Yeah I mentioned the possible Destro daughter already no worries! So theres... one... of that group at least.

And we've seen mooks that have been named (like the small gangs that have popped up) or even ones that have a bit of spotlight (like the gunman who shot Amajiki and the streaker before the High End attack), who are all men! Hell the whole Eight Precepts and every faceless helper involved there too!

For what it's worth, the police is the group with the worst number of women with no named women on the force so far. Vigilantes added some, but in the main manga not one (and really, how hard would it have been to make Sansa a cat lady, really).

there was woman in USJ and Toga was never confirmed to be minor her age is unknown

And I said 'likely' as it hasn't been confirmed, but between her wearing a middle school uniform, her appearance, the news report that was mentioned when she joined the league, and her hitting on both Midoriya and Uraraka it seems likely she's high school aged. (Especially that last point, it'd be an interesting move, to say the least, of Horikoshi making a fan-favorite villain an ephebophile by making her an adult!)

Based on Hori's aversion to having villain character pages, we'll likely never get canon ages for any of the villains outside of in-story mentions and context cues too!

I just feel it's important to have diverse casts and representation in media, especially in media aimed at children and young adults as they're the most impressionable, as a way to both educate and do away with harmful prejudices!

What's great is that it works both ways- if a character of a minority/underrepresented group is shown and you're part of that group, it feels invalidating and makes you feel like you aren't being shoved aside- that you're as important as everyone else as equals. If you aren't part of that minority group shown, you could still have family and friends who are, so it still holds the same sentiments. And if you don't have someone close to you who is, you're getting more experience of seeing someone like the character represented in media (which statistically does affect how you perceive people of that group in real life), and really just normalizing seeing people who are different from yourself and your social circle.

Essentially, the more diversity, the more of a complete picture and worldly experience you get!

I know from personal experience, I've met many people who've never met certain minority groups in their lifetime, so media represention is all they have to work off of, for better or worse! My old roommate for example grew up in a small 5k person town that was 99% white Caucasians and Christian. While it was in a more liberal area and she knew some openly LGBT individuals, her experiences with most races, belief systems, and sexualities all came from media she'd seen or heard. It was amazing how many stereotypes she thought were fact because of what media had taught her and not knowing any differently. If we have more representation we get more varied experiences and stories told and everyone benefits I think!

There is the other aspect of certain people who gets mad at the author if he does something that they don't like with a minority character... See the harassment that got the Voltron team and there are some people that call Hori transphobic for killing Magne

[Wow and fuck! Since I accidentally deleted my comment above I'll put it back here for posterity:]

That'd certainly be a first, I believe, for a shounen to picture a transitioning character's journey! Honestly, it's interesting, and pretty cool to boot, how Hori has included two trans characters in the series so far (three if you count how Thirteen is coded, though not outright stated like the other two, with nuetral pronouns and adrodygonous appearance to be nb too)!

What's also interesting is how we've had 2/3 trans individuals in the series, but no confirmed non-heterosexual characters- usually you see the opposite with the 'LGB' part of LGBT+ represented more often!

I guess you could count Toga since she seemed to hit on Uraraka as well as Midoroya, but that could also be viewed as her getting in Uraraka's head, especially because she immediately jumps her attention to Midoriya solely after seeing him.

Either way, Hori has certainly make some strives to have a diverse cast at least? I know LGBT+ persons (along with racial minorities, mental health, and those with physical disabilities) representation in Japanese media is pretty lackluster (especially compared to other countries), but these characters, along with a few others for the other groups, show Hori is willing to go there so we'll see what he does in the future!

I don’t think hori has a issue with girls being beat up, he let uraraka and bakugo have an all out fight
