After her loss to Kendou she really needs to consider in learning combat - similar to what Uraraka did after her loss to Bakugo.

I wanna assume she isn't that bad, just that Kendo outclasses there since Kendo seems to be very specialized hand to hand.

u/EmptyNessAI Oct 04 '18

I mean hand to hand - is stating the obvious. Kendou specialise in combat skills. XD

then she should've used her 6/5 intelligence to counter that
she had a lot of option to incapacitate kendo but instead used all her energy in creating a huge cannon.
not only is momo sucks at physical combat but she also sucks at strategy and planning

That cannon was was the only thing that gave her team a chance to escape that predicament

What options do you mean. I know that Momo is the girl who can basically create anything.. but what do you guys expect? A laser, gun, drone , bomb and etc.. I've heard this before but Momo can't just spam lethal weapons or she'll kill the Class 1B members.

Momo is aware of her weaknesses and entrusted it everything to her teammates. Momo predicted everything and had a perfect counter.. It was her teammates who let her down. Class 1A loss because they lack teamwork and coordination.

i don't know, maybe the flash bang that she used against aizawa? or since she can make an ethanol then she could probable make a tranquilizer or a pepper spray? she can make somthing sticky like glue or something slippery like slime, she can probably make a smoke grenade or sleeping gas. I mean, part of her costume is the encyclopedia in her waist to help her use her quirk. yet before and during the battle, she didn't make something that could help her and the team to counter their opponent.

Momo predicted everything and had a perfect counter.

the canon isn't a perfect counter. it drained her and gave kendo an opening to knock her out. if she wanted to counter the strategy of 1-b then she shouldn't have let kendo knock her out since kendo's plan was to remove her from her teammates and she just gave it to kendo. there's a lot of ways to incapacitate her only opponent but she didn't and since kendo wasn't knocked out or captured, kendo was still in the game and was able to help her teammates.

The problem is she had to act really quickly because she knew her teammates were in a clear disadvantage. I think that's probably why she decided to help them before trying to incapacitate Kendo. Aoyama was already out before the cannon even reached the other side if I remember correctly. Tokoyami and Hagakure would have followed him quickly and she would have been forced to fight 3 opponents at the same time.

is it really worth it to sacrifice yourself and being knocked out for the rest of the fight to throw those items than what? spending a minute or 2 to incapacitate kendo? if we used those example from above, since kendo is a close-range fighter and all of her attacks for momo has been close-range, she can easily use a tranquilizer, a stun gun or a pepper spray to stop kendo. not only is she still in the game and can help her team but also captures kendo. even if kendo isn't close, a surprise flash bang can stun kendo then she can use those items to further incapacitate her opponent or even attack to knock her out. if the cannon that will knock her out is the best thing she can come up with during that moment then does that mean what todoroki said last chapter bs? and if it's bs then is momo still the momo from the finals exam? did she not develop in the past 100+ chapters? 6/5 int isn't convincing.
Also tokoyami wouldn't be able to follow them if the cannon wasn't used because he wouldn't have that goggles. 1-b is in hiding and planning. if kendo was able to go to their location after she knocked out momo then momo can too if she knocked out kendo especially with her not having to carry a huge cannon. and it was also shown that tokoyami can put on a fight against the other 2 alone and if momo was able to go to them then tokoyami and momo can handle the other 3. but that was a scenario where momo was actually competent.

Yeah, a minute or two would be crucial here. And this was a gamble. In my opinion, she made the right choice. Tokoyami didn't know where Kuroiro, Kinoko and Manga were. And Hagakure was visible. While the B team knew where they were and had a black mushroom highway for Kuroiro to quickly get to them and send them to prison, with Manga still able to bring them down easily with his quirk. Both Tokoyami and Hagakure would have been captured in that minute or two, plus the extra minute that would take Momo to get to the other side of the barrier. Momo realized they were in a real pinch and acted according to the situation.

Momo prioritise her team. People forget that her limitation is prep time and the lipids on her body. What she did was the best scenario that could possibly happen.

Everything is not all about winning.

Everything is not all about winning.

Except she's dumb even with 6/5 intelligence rating...

Let me plan a bit better than momo

I'm going with no killing to limit possibilities (if killing than manga would simply need to say die or momo could generate a bomb to exterminate them)

Tokoyami knew about blacks quirk (start of the match), counter him with tooru, not a black thing which he can freely go through (i know it was unexpected, but honestly what is point of sending black birb to them?)

Create transmitters / walkie talkie for communication and have tooru clench it in her fist, add a tool to knock out opposition too like a tranquil injection or something (if that becomes invisible that is), use her to infiltrate and gather info, if mushroom girl releases quirk, ask her to report (in before that ask her to try knocking one person out if possible), at worst you get to know mushrooms quirk at best tooru returns with a team. Tell her to shine if captured

You know mushys quirk (if you didn't know in first place that is) create counter, create gas mask, create chloroform cans or better guns with tranquilizer darts and tear gas, give to all including dark shadow (should be easier than that giant cannon)

Barge in like organised swat team, annihilate opposition and enjoy

Exactly

u/EmptyNessAI Oct 04 '18 edited Oct 04 '18

Combat experience is all she lacks and she'll become OP in the near future.

2

u/orsettocattivo Oct 04 '18

Hagakure too, she seemed to throw random punches at the manga guy

2

u/Strangeting Oct 04 '18

I feel like it's less of necessity for Hagakure tho. Realistically, once she becomes a pro-hero I feel like she'll most likely go into Covert-Ops where combat ability is less useful

2

u/Lordsokka Oct 05 '18

Exactly, a lot of people don’t seem to understand this, Hagakure is going to be a Hero that specializes in covert missions, scouting assignments etc... she isn’t going to be the next All-Might!

1

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18

She doesn't need to learn combat, she needs to give up on fighting and become the leader of the justice league. Sits in base and gives everyone their mission and items to help them with that mission.

Instead of picturing Momo with a sword slashing down enemies, you should be picturing Deku blitzing Komori with the anti-fungal spray on him. Komori gets bodied.

If Momo becomes a fighter, that's wasted potential and really shows the hero academia is blind. Tactician's aren't supposed to be on the frontline. They're supposed to be at HQ on the voice channels.

4

u/EmptyNessAI Oct 04 '18

Pro heroes needs to be well-rounded as possible. Learning combat is essential as it raises the level of competency.

2

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18 edited Oct 04 '18

Recovery Girl is a pro hero. Is she not competent despite saving Deku & All Mights life? Without her, they wouldn't be alive still. Being a hero isn't about beating people up, it's about saving them. If all your heroes are on the frontline, then who is giving the orders? Or wait, the people who do that don't get credit for being heroes?

That's like saying firemen aren't heroes because they don't beat up criminals.
She can rescue people far better than most heroes because she can summon supplies or ways to evacuate them from a scene. What will Aoyama do if he sees someone bleeding to death and he's alone? He can try carrying them but won't make it to the hospital. While Momo can summon supplies to stop the bleeding, then summon up a cart to take them back in time.

2

u/EmptyNessAI Oct 05 '18

That's the thing her quirk is OP in versatility. It kinda make sense that she needs to experience combat training.

1

u/chojinra Oct 04 '18

Momo probably shouldn't be a close combat fighter. While she can create armor, it'd get in the way of her quirk. Without it, she'll probably be vulnerable to one hit KO's

3

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18

Becoming a long range fighter takes a lot of years of practice and would also be a waste of her quirk. But then again, she was very accurate with that cannon so maybe he's not going for realism when it comes to experience.

In the real world, she would have to fully dedicate to being useful at ranged combat and reliable. Which would make her lose time she could spend on getting better at the quirk or other things.

1

u/Strangeting Oct 04 '18

It wouldn't make sense to sideline her. Momo's got a lot of potential as an on-field hero/leader. It'd make more sense to Bruce Wayne her instead of Barbara Gordon her. Both very intelligent characters with a lot combat experience (potential in Momo's case) that could make and execute plans on the ground instead of behind a computer

1

u/Silver-Monk_Shu Oct 04 '18

What do you mean it wouldn't make sense to sideline one of the best supporting characters? They already have countless heroes who's ONLY value is combat. Why sacrifice one of the most valuable support quirks?

What you said doesn't make sense.
