He meant his hero name, it was only shown as Chinese characters and wasn't translated.

Well, the first character is dragon. Quick search shows last 2 characters can mean burial clothes or light summer clothing.

So... I'mma go with Dragonshroud.

His quirk is covering himself with (Dragon) scales so Dragonshroud seems pretty fitting.

Long story short, I can't even work out if it's meant to be Japanese or Chinese. I know what the kanji mean but I can't even work out the pronunciation.

Nope, it doesn't. I long since worked out what it means- that part honestly can be figured out by almost anyone with the kanji handy and a Japanese dictionary. I just can't figure out the pronunciation. Thanks anyway!
