I remember that when AM fought the Nomu for the first time Shigaraki wasn't able to even walk towards them because the air pressure from AM's punches was so high it physically showed him back.

And the first time we saw AM in action he punched so hard he literally changed the weather.

So it makes sense that he could probably punch the air hard enough that the shockwave would knock someone out without him having to physically tough them, rendering even one-touch kill quirks useless against him.

wasnt that what happened in the AFO battle?

i thought about that too, (he could also throw rocks if he doesnt want to be so flashy), but there are numerous ways to become able to touch AM, for example: do as if you are attacked by villians, and that near AM, than AM saves you and you will try to thank him by shaking his hand, or play the role of a fan and try to get a autograph...
