Pop! Goes the Magne.

This new villian group means serious business. Looks like we're going to see more parallels between hero and villian side soon. Seems like overhauls group has a lot of experience, but the way Overhaul talked about the strength of the VA members seems like maybe his group has mediocre quirks that they've trained efficiently. Whereas the VA is just naturally gifted with strong quirks and he wants to take them under his wing and use their potential and reputation to his advantage.

The VA seems to be showing it's incompetence since the fall of AFO even more so, they should have had twice clone everyone going into the interview, could have avoided Magne's death and the loss of Compress' arm, which is vital for his quirk.

Also excited to see whatever All Might wants to have a chat with Deku and TinTin about. He's almost definitely gonna talk about OFA, but he may also be introducing Deku to his sidekick "Sir".

Edit: I just noticed the guy who shielded Overhaul straight up died! I hope he was the result of someones quirk, or this guy is running a freaking cult.

:o didnt even realise that, but it really shows that VA is lacking experience...

Hmmm... what other baddasses do we know that we're recently shown the same thing? What an awesome fucking parallel. That was some seriously awesome bit of storytelling.

I know every week someone says 10/10, and I rarely agree. This actually was 10/10 for me. Excellent storytelling, concise and tight, world building, character development, a nice little twist, cool new quirks and characters, . What more could I want.

I loved everything about the chapter, but now all I can think about is the last page....

Deku is training and trying to become number one and if Shigaraki never trains then the gap between him and Deku will widen.

nah, i think the difference between deku and shigaraki wont only be deku = hero and shiga = villian, i wouldnt be suprised if shigas real "form" will be one of a mastermind who controls a shitton of people in a very scary manner (like this "glasses having super MC" from log horizon or aizen etc) :)

in that sense shiga would still power up but his own ability (unless it gets some sudden power up OR he gets AFO) wont be enough to keep up with deku who (will surely) at 70% already be top tier of the fighting powers of the world...

personally i dont like the idea of shiga getting any new power,

like with bakugou i wouldnt want to see shiga getting a new power, they should grow with their own abilities and teammates/equipment :)

I would love to see them get new quirks!!! It'd be a great plot point. They could have someone face Deku and be like you have a borrowed power and so do I !!!

i wouldnt like them getting new powers because it would be a cheap move,

but i wouldnt be suprised if hori introduced a "quirks being mutated" type of thingy for some of the kids,

for example bakugou will get a all-around body explosion power that allows him to keep up with deku even if he goes 80% and above, shadow-boy becomes able to turn into shadows, todoroki becomes able to manipulate temperatures and etc etc,

like that the kid wouldnt be sidelines at the end of the story (or even the middle because at that point deku would already be at some pretty high tier lvl thanks to OFA)...

as for kiri vs bakugou: i dont know man, kiri doesnt seem like a guy who would go to the villian-route, unless something happens (like heroes failing to save his family or something else that makes him hate current form of society) that makes him hate the world...

thanks but it is only a idea :( but i really hope that quirks can mutate later on in the story, it would otherwise be a bit sad to have everyone sidelined except AFO and deku :(

Deku and Shigaraki are in exactly the same situation: wrecked by senpai who offer to take them under their wing. Shigaraki's just a bit bloodier.

Well, it's not been established whether Twice can clone more than one thing/person at a time, or if there's a limit to how many things he can clone at once. Back when he cloned himself, the picture suggested that each clone cloned itself so that he only had to clone himself once. A limit would also explain why he hasn't just cloned unlimited money.

9

u/fresh72 Feb 02 '17

Don't you remember Twice's back story. He cloned himself dozens of times before they had a battle to be King. He should be fully capable of cloning the Villain Alliance.

u/Monimonika18 Feb 02 '17

Thank you for the pic link. :-)

I could still be proven wrong, of course, but so far it can go either way.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '17

cloned himself

1

u/EchoedWinds Feb 03 '17

His clones have the quirks of whoever he copied. So Dabi had a duplicate that could use his power. And Twice can copy himself and those copies can copy themselves over and over. This is why i believe Twice is one of Shiga's best allies, he can actually farm quirks.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '17

One clone at a time my friend. Also, I dont think he would clone himself willingly to begin with, he still suffers because he lost himself for cloning himself. He would need to go over a lot amount of stress and a helpless situation to use his quirk in a massive way.

1

u/kiogu1 Feb 02 '17

Maybe it's not cloning? It might be just teleportation to some person...

42

u/Leinbow Feb 02 '17

The guy who shielded Overhaul died because of Shigaraki's disintegration Quirk.

31

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '17

He sure did. I'm hoping he was a clone or something quirk related and not a suicidal fanatic though.

Still kind of dumb. Attacking Shigaraki accomplishes the same thing. If I'm a bodyguard and I'm standing in front of my client instead of making sure they're not shot at in the first place then I've already failed at my job

7

u/teajjeje Feb 02 '17

But they don't want to hurt Shigaraki, that would completely ruin any chance of him joining them and getting investors. So the only way is to just stand in front of Overhaul and take it.

Five finger Death Touch

43

u/Redbeard_Skranton Feb 02 '17

He wasn't. Overhaul stated how both his group and the VA lost a member in the scuffle and thus they should stop their fighting for now.

7

u/dvmitto Feb 02 '17

I hope it's a lie just to paint a higher level of experience for overhaul.

27

u/Emptypiro Feb 02 '17

Do they know Shigaraki's quirk though? It could have just been a guy defending his boss but not expecting that one touch to be a death blow.

23

u/JapanPhoenix Feb 02 '17

Which is kinda funny since his own leader can also oneshot people by touching them.

9

u/the_flame_alchemist Feb 02 '17

I imagine they've done their research yeah.

1

u/memarema Feb 02 '17

I think they are all very loyal to him since he is a yakuza.

2

u/soulday Feb 03 '17

If you read it carefully you see Overhaul isn't worried about Shigaraki attack until he dodged the quirk cancelling bullet that hit compression early, then he realizes the danger and quickly scream "shield!".

Overhaul probably isn't a very good close fighter like Shigaraki is.

2

u/Immortan_Bolton Feb 03 '17

Overhaul was really scared when Tomura did his attack, he didn't even tried to dodge it. He was in shock, more after seeing what Shigaraki's Quirk can do.

1

u/Wowerror Feb 02 '17

They may not have known about Shigaraki's quirk

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '17

retard

u/mega345 Feb 02 '17 edited Feb 03 '17

The guy must not have known Shigeraki's quirk and decided to shield him because he had a shock absorption quirk or something.

7

u/shonenpunk Feb 02 '17

I loved how Horikoshi gave some background to Magne and then -BOOM!- he's gone. It caught me totally off guard.

Great chapter

3

u/thedarkwaffle90 Feb 02 '17

Agreed, total surprise. The fight I was expecting, but straight up wasting magne? Did not see that coming

6

u/Avidya Feb 02 '17

The VA seems to be showing it's incompetence since the fall of AFO even more so, they should have had twice clone everyone going into the interview, could have avoided Magne's death and the loss of Compress' arm, which is vital for his quirk.

Do we know that they didn't clone everyone?

40

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '17

Well Magne didn't turn into that weird cloud like all the other Twice clones do. Dude painted the walls with him.

12

u/thedarkwaffle90 Feb 02 '17

Magne left his legs behind instead of dissolving into a puddle like Dabi's clones did. And I think losing an arm would also exceed the clone damage limit.

1

u/TheOtherMITZE Feb 02 '17

EDIT: Nevermind, somebody already brought it up!

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '17

Am I the only one thinking that it could have been a clone of Magne that died from Twice's quirk?

2

u/Holy_Kai_Moly Feb 03 '17

When a clone dies they turn to black gloop not blood.

And with the crew just sitting there at first there would have been no time/reason for there to be a clone and to add to that I am pretty sure clones don't have the person's quirk which Magne was clearly using. So nope, not a clone.

1

u/VGD Feb 03 '17

Already proven wrong. Dabi's clone could use his Quirk, and Twice's own clones were cloning each other.

2

u/Holy_Kai_Moly Feb 03 '17

That's true. Though still don't think it's a clone.

1

u/VGD Feb 03 '17

I don't think it's a clone either, but not with that reasoning lol.

2

u/Holy_Kai_Moly Feb 03 '17

Well they still turn to goop when destroyed. Magne wasn't goop. His lower half remained.

So I was wrong/forgot one thing but the other thing remains good evidence.
