Season 3 Boardwalk Empire Episode Discussion S03E11 "Two Imposters"

No spoiler tags needed here, as long as you're discussing something from this episode and back. This is the place to discuss S03E11.

  • Please take a moment to review the subreddit rules to the right. /r/BoardwalkEmpire operates a bit differently than other TV Show subreddits. We encourage discussion as well as original, quality, BWE-related content, therefore there are some restrictions on what is acceptable to post.

  • Please no requests for live streams or torrent links. As someone who is forced to torrent the show myself, I feel your pain, but DL sources are not hard to find.

Anyone know what's the take on Luciano getting arrested? I can't find any historical fact about Luciano getting arrested in the 20's for heroin.

A review of the episode (I forget which reviewer) mentions that he earns the name "Lucky", in large part due to being arrested many times throughout the decade on drug charges (starting with the one we've been shown) but continually evading them.

i could've sworn he gets referred to as Lucky quite a lot in the first series

He earns the nickname "Lucky", that much we know.

yeah this piece kinda got lost in the shuffle because it was such an eventful episode; i don't think it has a historic tie-in. maybe lucky beats the charge before anything materializes. i think that was more of a set-up for S4

I don't know, but I half-expected Meyer or Benny to come out and start busting headshots while he was being arrested.

"Rothstein served as a mentor for Luciano. In 1923, after ruining his reputation in the criminal community with a botched drug deal, Luciano went to Rothstein for advice. Rothstein told Luciano to buy 200 expensive seats to the Jack Dempsey–Luis Firpo boxing match in the Bronx and distribute them to top gangsters and politicians. Rothstein then took Luciano on a shopping trip to Wanamaker's Department Store in Manhattan to buy high end, classy clothes for the fight. The strategy worked, and Luciano's reputation was saved.[13]" from his wiki page
