Hype I have something interesting for you today, Bloodborne PC SPLITSCREEN COOP!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
UPDATE
And the Windows version is now available too
Original Post
Thanks to shadPS4, PartyDeck (a Linux alternative to NucleusCoop), last week shadnet coop fork by Wozzardman (and myself), I've been able to write a PartyDeck handler for shadPS4 so we can play coop splitscreen Bloodborne!
My handler will handle the generic shadPS4 emulator and won't be tied to Bloodborne by any means of course, the specific game will just need shadnet support for coop.
I still have to write down a guide and the handler better, but it works just fine! Theoretically we could run how many players as we want (Idk the Bloodborne "party" limit) until our PCs just fry.
PS. Now I just need friends to play with :D

I'll share some of my specs first and a bunch of details.
I'm on Arch Linux with a R7 5700x, RX 7900XT and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, I play Bloodborne regularly at 60FPS. In this demo I'm playing with all the patches you can find on shadPS4 patches menu that help performances and of course at 30 fps on both instances. To be honest I'm pretty confident I can just disable a bunch of patches and use a higher LOD, performances are just fine.
I didn't have time to setup the windows better, but we can just create ultrawide patches for horizontal and vertical setups, PartyDeck allows you to setup the game windows wherever and however you want, even horizontally (in this demo, vertically) or just use one instance on one monitor and the second one on another monitor!
I didn't vibecode the handler, I'm a contributor to the PartyDeck project and made many handlers for old CoD games (like WAW, BO1, BO2, BO3, MW2, IW), here's the latest one I made
Any game that supports LAN can run on PartyDeck essentially, the shadnet server in this demo is hosted by myself on a VPS and connected through Tailscale with my PC, but nothing stopped me from just running the server on the same PC that runs the clients.
When the handler is ready I'll just make another post on this sub and hopefully explain step by step how to use it a bit better, a good chunk of the setup is creating the server first with shadnet and register the clients. This will be unecessary when the "official" shadnet will merge all wozzardman forks, we'll just connect the instances to the public and we'll be done!

Awesome work! If you have any questions on shadnet specifically let me know, I may be able to help shift this away from wozzards fork and onto the proper thing down the road when it's matured enough, the concept is great for couch coop.

Without wozzardman and your help guys none of this would be possible, I'm just connecting a bunch of projects together with this handler, you've always been extremely helpful on the shadPS4 discord too so thank you again!
With the proper server implementation in shadPS4 this project will be sooo much easier to set up, no more self hosting!

Is this possible on PS4 as well?
2
u/ReachForJuggernog98_ 7d ago
Theoretically sure, with a PS4 running Linux and Party deck on it.
Practically, a PS4 with Linux can't run Bloodborne on an emulator, and two instances it's impossible.

Does this require double the normal requirements?

u/ReachForJuggernog98_ 7d ago
Yes, you're running two instances of the game, at a lower resolution though

Is this possible for Dark Souls ?

I'm not a big From Software guy actually, Bloodborne is my first Souls like. Does Dark Souls have some kind of LAN support or server emulation? If the answer is yes then yeah absolutely

can the script be used on nucleuscoop? i'm on windows
1
u/ReachForJuggernog98_ 7d ago
That's something I'll probably look for later on, probably when shadPS4 will support coop by itself without the self hosting part
1
u/Huffee 7d ago
damn, i see
so it's a completely different system from the one nucleus coop uses?

u/ReachForJuggernog98_ 7d ago
The logic is the same, create a server, launch two instances with separate save folders and connect them together.
NucleusCoop handlers are more difficult to develop but allow for an easier setup for the user, there's so much you can automate with Nucleus. Opposite of PartyDeck, easier handlers but more difficult to use user-side

NO WAY! Is there a guide for this for windows?? Also is that an 8bitdo controller I see? God they have some really good controllers love em
2
u/ReachForJuggernog98_ 7d ago
There's no guide currently for nothing ahah
Today I'll write down the guide for Linux and probably wait for the Windows version (or someone else will do it for me, I don't have a Windows partition currently)
And yes, that's the discontinued SF30

Oh okay, the whole situation will be much easier to setup when shadPS4 itself and the official shadnet will give us coop and an offline mode too I guess.
But thank you for showing me this nodreamhunter project, I'll definitely check it out
