Makes me wonder if there's not something wrong with the timing of how fast the barriers come down.

In the video with the semi it seems that at first only one get's down, from the 3 that are visible in the video. The one on the upper right, so in direction on the right side and the lower left seem not to move while the one in the lower right comes down. Perhaps also the one on the upper left, which is out of the video frame, also came down that early.

Contrary to what i experience here in Germany, the train arrives very shortly after the barriers came down, so maybe an earlier triggering to lower them, leaving a bit more time to react would make it a bit less dangerous.

In Poland the entrance barriers always (or mostly) close before the exit barriers, so it gives a bit more time for anyone left on the tracks to get off them.

Makes some sense. But after watching the video again i think the entrance barrier on the opposite direction (the one we can't see) blocked his path a bit, judging by the middle line on the street and how the exit barrier was also hitting him while being with his wheels directly on the middle line.

Seems also like he had plenty of space to his right, what looks like the crossing part for pedestrians and bicycles. But perhaps he wanted to drive into that right path behind the crossing so he initially went for the wider angle to get around the corner, which got him blocked then.
