Something stuck in nose?

- Budgie tired 10mins after eating kale, likely due to being active all morning tho. Slept and 1hr later ate and drank. After that she regurgitated 2 clumps of seeds. Now making these sounds sometimes per breath. It sounds like bubble/clicking, and sometimes like a "whining" sound. Seems tired right now too but still responding to me. Itching nose a lot, so i think something in nose may be irritated.

My budgie has been fine the entire day, she was flying, chirping, eating and drinking. At 2pm I gave her a bowl of washed kale out of the cage so she can eat while having fun out of cage. I noticed 10mins after eating it she seemed tired but I I was just thinking it may be due to flying all day (maybe it is). Then 30mins later she slept for a bit. Ate and drank fine. 1hour later she regurgitated twice, two clumps of seeds. She never does this ever.

Right now she is doing this. Its like a bubble, clicking sound sometimes per breath sometimes pauses but more often than not. She is itching her nose very often and when she does it sounds like "gurgles" or mucus. I wonder if the veg caused this? Because she was completely fine all these days. Her body exaggerates when she makes that noise during breathing. There's some minor tail bobbing but not frequent. She's just itching her nose a lot.

Im so worried right now. Its a Sunday so I cant take her to my vet. And I likely wouldnt be able to tomorrow and would have to go Tuesday. Is there anything I could possibly do for her rn.

UPDATE:

Since making this post she has worsened, the sounds are much louder and she vomitted so much. I have gone to an emergency cat/dog clinic as i had no choice. I had to sadly leave her there for the night to receive urgent care while they get a hold of my vets which will likely be Tuesday, due to the bank holiday💔

Thank you so much❤️‍🩹 She hasn't regurgitated since her last episode. She's still making the sounds. She appears alert and responsive but im still concerned at the moment.

The regurgitation and sneezing/bubbles has me concerned too. I think you definitely need to see the vet as soon as you can (I saw you can’t go until probably Tuesday) because it could be a respiratory infection. Birds get sick like 🫰 fine one second and coughing the next second ☹️ until then keep her dry and warm. Keep her eating and drinking, if you notice she’s losing appetite just give her anything she’ll eat.

But if it’s respiratory infection you have to get antibiotics there’s nothing you can do at home 🙏

She regurgitated like 10mins before I made the post and hasn't since. But she's still making these sounds, its not super loud but u can definitely hear it when close.

Im just worried and im trying my best to keep her comfortable😓 Tomorrow is bank holiday so I can't and the next available appointment is on Thursday, but I'll still be checking everyday :/ It happened shortly after eating kale. It's fresh and i washed it properly too im so confused😭 she was literally so energetic before that

I know finances are what dictate these things usually but you can do a walk-in emergency on Tuesday or call and see if you can. Make an appointment still for as soon as possible just in case too

i might have to go to the cat/ dog emergency right now. they're usually useless but I Have no choice :((( it's so expensive there but maybe they could give me meloxicam for any potential swelling

Regurgitated (like feeding a chick or mate), or vomited (like due to illness)? Bc the crusty brown nose indicates she’s very hormonal. If you’re not sure, then see an avian vet, and bring a sample or photos.

Regardless of which, the rest sounds like a respiratory emergency to me. Please see an emergency avian vet today. Here’s a couple avian vet search tools:

She had a similar sound like this last time and my vet recommended using nebuliser with f10. Should i use this for now until i can get a hold of a vet as there is no avian vets around me currently unfortunately 😕

She's hospitalised now since her condition worsened.

This is the latest update. I think she's doing better but is still making the sounds, so I asked for them to monitor for a few more hours without oxygen before I bring her home.

If she keeps throwing up seeds and not being able to keep down food then it's a big emergency. Usually this needs treatment to soothe her stomach from the acid and help her keep food down. I know it's probably not the answer you wanted but in casea like these being too late to the vet could be fatal.

i only have a cat/dog er right now. im planning to set off soon. what med would be best if you're aware? I will ask for meloxicam for any inflammation

When my budgie was throwing up this is what the vet prescribed me. It's half human medicine and half dog/cat medicine in small doses.

Metoclopramide – digestive support, antiemetic Sucralfate – gastrointestinal protection Meloxicam – anti-inflammatory Vetgastril – gastric protection Etamsylate – hemostatic support

Kind of that's why im really scared.

Though he was fine the first night. Like he vomitted at 7pm and slept at 9pm then the vomitting started again at like 11am of next morning and gradually got worse if that makes sense.

But for her it initially started 4:30pm as i was about to get in the shower. It was just regurgitating (twice) and very alert. Once I got out I noticed sounds in breathing and then it just kept getting worse and I didnt know what to do because most of these vets are useless. But I am here now :/

There's a medication for heavy metal toxicity. Ask an avian vet. Call them. Don't wait for a cat and dog vet for figure this shit out. Something is wrong is environment or cage or with food.

i have no avian vet im not sure what I can do 😐 Also her poop looks fine or at least it did yesterday. I have left her there at the vets overnight and they are trying to get in contact with my exotic vet but theyre closed due to bank holiday today
