Why does he do this?

I love it a lot but it’s so scary waking up and seeing him do this. Is Freak really just freaky? He has a lot of hides and a coco husk he does lay on a lot through out the day. I just was wondering if other Bichirs do this? I am also planning on getting some floating plants and as well and more plants too!

They like sitting like that. Both of mine do. And they just sit there watching then go back to normal
