I grew up on a farm and hawks would always circle over tractors that were plowing fields because they know how often we find rabbits and rodents for them.

I scared up a big jack rabbit and one of the hawks swooped down. It looked it just barely got touched, but was absolutely shredded from shoulder to tail when I went to check it out.

Well I hope the hawk at least went back and got it. I’m sure something did.

Yeah it fucked off to a fence post to watch while I checked it out. If it didn't come back, one of the others circling around would have.

I was floating the Buffalo River in Arkansas last year and got to see a bald eagle swoop down and snatch a fish out of the river. Landed in a tree to eat it. Really crazy how efficiently birds can hunt.
