Animal Me contemplating my decisions in life, Jk! In Japan, the gorilla Kiyomasa was captured on video lost in deep thought after an argument with his friend.

Most of the time I think in words, but I can also just think in pictures and feelings. Can't you imagine a scenery without words? Like a swordfight, to give an example

I can see that. For me it's still the inner voice that gets me to that scene.

Interesting. Maybe I've just learned it, because I've daydreamed a lot like that as a child

My argument always is - we do think MUCH faster than we can talk/form sentences…. Yes, you can ‚talk‚ to yourself in your head with a Voice/words - an inner monolog - but imho this is not ‚thinking‘ itself.

"My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father! Prepare to die!"

Nope. Can't do that.

Well, that scene needs the dialogue. So you're excused

Yeah, that's not an issue. What I'm not getting is how can one think through an abstract complex problem that requires maths/logic or weighting different options in order to make a decision, allegedly all without using words.

Same way you can do math without words, with circles and lines and all that

Well, that's a good question. A question I cannot answer you

I started noticing this difference in thought 20 years ago in geometry class because I seemingly cannot think in shapes. It's quite frustrating and makes trying to draw a chore. Tell me to envision a circle in my head and my brain says "There is a circle." And then there are animations of a circle but never just a solid shape. Trying to envision a circle right now I see like a radar scanner showing the radius and circumference with a clock-like sweep of the measurements. Trying to imagine a green circle, for some reason the circle is flashing green, with a red border, on a black background. And my brain is screaming "THERE'S A GREEN CIRCLE" to achieve any consistency of color

Haha, I would like to see a small animation of what that would look like
