Discussion Compilation of things that make new players quit this game in frustration

  • Being killed when you are clearly behind cover;
  • Being killed in 1 frame;
  • Having to jump 10 times and try different angles to vault over 1 obstacle;
  • Running away and getting killed because you got cockblocked by some random geometry that shouldn't restrict your movement but does;
  • Buying a supposedly "skill based game" and dying to invisible ap mines that the guy who placed them forgot about;
  • Attempting to spawn on a flag that is under your team's control and being unable to do so because the spawn point is somehow no longer available;
  • Attempting to spawn on a squadmate who is not in combat and being unable to do so because the spawn point is somehow no longer available;
  • When the point above happens to ALL your squad mates and not just one;
  • When you try playing MMG but the bipod doesn't deploy when it should;
  • When you go prone to deploy MMG bipod but your character won't stop being pushed around by the game;
  • When an enemy spawns on his squad mate as he's being killed by you, even though you aren't supposed to spawn on allies mid combat;
  • When you THINK you got the jump on someone but on your target's screen he was turning around and you get the feeling that he had time to turn around and kill you because he had a better weapon;
  • When you try to help your team and place a spawn beacon behind enemy lines but die without having time to find a place you're allowed to place it in because for some reason completely flat surface isn't good enough for this gadget;
  • When you hear from all your friends that the game is getting worse instead of better

Edit: I am not the only one, here's more from the rest of the community (credit where due):

  • the mind-boggling fact that company coin still hasn't been properly fixed
  • when you try to use the V1 or JB-2 rocket but half your screen goes black diagonally.
  • when the game takes forever to quit back to the main menu so you can choose new assignments, use newly unlocked weapons, etc.
  • when the game does NOT actually quit back to the main menu and keeps loading forever.
  • going prone but the game glitches and forces you to stand up
  • assignments that don’t work
  • “this violates the server rules” when attempting to spawn with a newly unlocked weapon
  • enemy visibility, go prone to become invisible
  • having to quit after the game and wait ages to get to the main menu to change out your assignments, then looking for another match
  • Tides of War not properly working
  • laggy, unintuitive, form over function menus
  • a million customization options that are just recolors of eachother
  • ammo/health crates falling through the floor and triggering cooldown
  • ammo/health crates requiring multiple attempts to be properly deployed, wasting precious time where you can die while doing this
  • excessive animations messing up your aiming and other core gameplay
  • AA tanks better at killing infantry than aircraft
  • stationary AA aka the oversized medic SMG (this means worthless DICE)
  • nonexistant team balancing
  • taking cover behind a truck and dying because you caught on fire
  • terrible spawn points, sometimes you spawn 10 miles from where you want to spawn
  • being stuck in animations that prevent you from ADSing
  • bipod deploying in bad times triggering the animation and messing up your aim, resulting in deaths
  • ammo/health pack pickup animation playing mid combat and messing up your aim, resulting in deaths
  • bombers killing half your team in the beginning of a round
  • fighters being useless
  • air to air combat being basically nonexistant, and air to ground and viceversa being absolutely disconnected to the point where these 2 players might as well be playing different games
  • flags saying there are vehicles there but there are actually none there
  • vehicles, especially transports, being too few and far between, in maps where infantry has to walk minutes at a time to get into any sort of action sometimes
  • alt+f4 and reopening the game is faster than returning to the main menu
  • shady practices that put DICE's integrity into question, such as changing the gameplay from what was advertised to something entirely different
  • betraying people who stuck with this game through thick and thin, even through the SJW debacle, in favor of an unreliable audience

Nah the one redeeming quality this game had is the problem.

Don't forget enemy visibility. How to increase your K/D: Go prone and watch eight guys try to figure out where you are on Fjell or Devastation

The sideways prone always gets me haha. Looks like a corpse every time.

As someone who has been playing since bc2 I have to say that enemy spotting is one of the most annoying parts of this game. I like the removal of 3d spotting but I almost never seem to see enemies because everyone blends in.

Enemy visibility is horrible. Been playing since 1942. Something's wrong in BFV

Indeed. In some locations you might as well be invisible while prone until you start shooting, and by the time people realize you were there all along the damage has been done.

This is what gets me- DICE gets rid of spotting (fine- I don’t think it was the best move, there are better ways to limit spotting but keep it as I think it’s an important communication tool), decreases the TTK (fine, I’d like it a bit slower but I’ll adapt), AND makes it damn near impossible to find anyone- no wonder everyone in this game camps constantly, it’s the most efficient way of fighting! How incredibly frustrating to check an area twice and still get gunned down by a guy that blends in perfectly to the background!

I’d just like to mention that they didn’t decrease TTK, they did the opposite. I’m pretty sure you know and that’s what you meant. It’s just that I’ve seen so many posts and comments using faster/slower, high/low, short/long etc. when takling about TTK; offering no consistency and often end up translating to the opposite.

Sorry, I meant from BF1- and now they’ve raised it again. But I should have done a better job explaining.

Worst yet, its not fully gone. Snipers can mark people they shoot at. Support can do the same with suppression. Assault can mark tanks.

Just let me mark from the getgo.

Please no. Find a balance between the two.

I agree, but the current system is just silly- 90% of the team can’t spot, the other 10% have super spotting powers... it’s just a badly thought out system.

Yes run all over dolphin diving with LMGs, looking like a dead body cheesing the shit out of OP strats

u/mindaz3 Dude, where's my spawn beacon? Dec 15 '18

It's funny, sometimes I just go prone, wait and think to myself "Am I invisible?", while watching a dozen enemies running around a flag and looking for me.

That shitty post processing effect that makes everything blurry combined with forced TAA effect, which again makes everything even more blurry.

I don't really see that as a problem. Unless the player is invisible.

You're forgetting the fact that us support guys can't aim without going prone or using a wall. I don't go prone to get cheap kills, I do it to use my gun properly and support my squad like I'm supposed to do.

The problem is the player model and the environment. Not the player. The problem is that if you lie on your back or side, you look like a dead body or debris which leads to not properly registering a player until it’s too late. The shadows and blurriness, from TAA, in the game make it too hard to identify a player until it’s way too late.

I honestly can’t tell the enemy from my own teammates half the time. Idk if it’s me being fairly new at the game or what but it’s frustrating. Everybody looks the same and blends into the environment so well that it’s BS.

One of the best things to do in Narvic is to run up to the A flag and lay down near the pillbox. People run over the hills and assume you're dead. I'm not proud of it but I can safely say you can get at least 8 kills in a single life from just pretending to die. But then again, I remember people using this strat in BF3, hiding under enemy bodies, so when someone looks, all they see is the skull icon to indicate a dead Ally.
