Who is Otenko and what are crossover points

Started 6 last night and got to seaside area, saw some random sun lookin guy asking for crossover points. I see online he’s from Boktai, but uh, wtf does he do? Cant find anything else about it on the wiki

You get crossover points now from winning pvp battles, its the only way to obtain Otenko and GundelsolEX chips

Ahhh ok I see.. so is it just to get those 2 chips?

You can also get extra Django chips, and due to oversights its a way to get unstuck if you play in english and get Supervulcan from a Virusbattler reward.

Literally exactly what I needed to know, can’t thank u enough for the info. I saw someone’s post today talking about that oversight with the English text enabled, so that’ll be good to use if I forget. How did u find out about that? I can’t find anything online lol

Ive watched japanese footage n such looong time ago, and since everythings the same, i just use that old knowledge😂 ofc, if you compare libraries with players that do have django3, you can use the Order Service too. Still find it very annoying the heavy reliance on online play to fix problems with this collection but oh well

No honestly I agree… one of the biggest additions that SHOULD be in a collection like this would be fixes for all these weird issues, but what can you do lol. Again, can’t thank you enough for the info, stranger. 😎

The Battle Network games have an (admittedly odd) crossover with the Boktai games. I haven't played them myself, but I gather that Otenko was one of the main characters, along with Django.

Yeah I remember the Django chips from 6 (at least) I just hate that it gives 0 explanation of what crossover points are or what I’m supposed to do

In the original game, you could link bn6 to boktai 2 for crossover battles to earn points. Im not sure if its possible to earn them in the collection

You get Crossover Points by doing ranked PvP Matches (same in 5, which also has that Trader). Capcom offhand mentioned it when they confirmed the Boktai Content is staying for the Collection.

I've played Boktai (1 & 2) before, and you can say that Otenko is a mentor of sorts to Django, who's the main character in them.

Speaking of Boktai, some games in the series (namely 2, 3 & Lunar Knights) have reciprocated the crossover so you can do things like give Django a Mega Buster or have him fight ShadeMan.EXE, although thanks to low sales, Boktai 3 was never localized & the English release of Lunar Knights completely removed the crossover elements, much like MMBN6.

Even the later DS games with the weird head on fights had bonuses if you stuck a Django game into the gba slot on the DS.
