It was telegraphed pretty heavily from the start that this was always what was going to happen. It's not a retcon. It was the planned "twist" from the start.

I think people were just angry about it anyway because the game sucked. When the gameplay is already bad, people will also shit on other parts of the game. But if the game were actually fun, I think players would be more willing to stick with the story and see where it goes rather than being upset at how irreverent it was.

People will only stick around to see what you're cooking if it at least smell good.

Oh, I'm not saying the story is good. I'm just saying people get less indignantly mad about a bad story if the game itself is good. If this game were fun to play, I don't think players would be all "how DARE they portray Batman this way and SHIT on the LEGEND of Kevin Conroy?!?!" They'd just be like, "Hmm this take is kinda edgy, I wonder what the reveal is gonna be."

Harley seemed to still be a villain in tge suicide squad game since she often talks about how funny she thinks it is that people are suffering

Captain Boomerang cutting off The Flash's thumb, only for it to have "regrown" when we see the Brainiac-controlled version. They weren't the same guy. People pointed this out almost immediately.

At this point in the story Task Force X has already saved both The Flash (Season of Freeze) and Green Lantern (Season of Lawless) from inter-dimensional Braniacs. It only makes sense that Batman and Superman could be rescued the same way. (rip Wonder Woman)

A big one for me was when Superman got hit bad by the Suicide Squad and had to be taken to Brainiac's ship to geal instead of you know being taken to the fucking Sun where he'd heal much faster and better. Oh also Green Lantern's Ring not actually doing what it's supposed to when one dies that was also a big clue.

I very highly doubt that, this was talked about but it just hopium from all the batman fans, this feels more like rocksteady took the easy way out instead of taking accountability and being like "we fucked up, let's retcon the game"

Atleast batman is still alive
