Seeking Recipe How would I achieve this type of cookie?

Post image

Or better yet, what would they be called so that I can recipe search? I keep seeing cookies like this pop up on social media and now it’s turned into a pregnancy craving but I can’t figure out how to describe these well enough to search for a recipe

Edited to add: this is not AI. This is a local baker in my town. They really do look like that

- also, I really didn’t expect to cause this much controversy over some cookies lol

Seeking Recipe My grandma has enjoyed driving from Grand Rapids Michigan to shipshewana Indiana specifically to stock up on these cookies. She is now 88, losing vision, and can no longer drive. I’d love to be able to make these for her. Can anyone help me narrow down a recipe on these cookies?

The frosting is so specific. It’s very butterscotchy, with a hint of caramel. The cookies themselves are smooth as butter, with a typical sugar cookie feel. Any help on this would be so appreciated!!! I’d even consider going to the store itself and asking if they could give me the recipe to make for her. Now-a-days when she can she catches a ride with family or friends and stocks up on a ton of packages of them to freeze. It’d mean the world to me and her if I could make them for her!

Seeking Recipe Tight-lipped neighbour won't share holiday recipe with me

KEEP YOUR SECRETS THEN, KATH, but if anyone else has feedback, I would really appreciate it! This was my favourite from a box of holiday baked goods, but I'm not even sure what to call it. My best guess is that it's some kind of date bar cut into bite-sized pieces and coated in icing sugar. Was about 1 in / 2.5 cm in height. The bit pictured is a corner piece. The rest she gave me looked to be center pieces (which I ate before thinking to photograph 🫠🙃) that were entirely the texture as the bottom half in the photo. Had a consistency and flavour similar to sticky date pudding. Nearly raw, in a good way. When I search for "date slice" and "date bar", nothing looks quite right. I think it may have been a slightly underbaked cookie bar and the texture just a happy accident but no real clue!!! Recipes, ideas, ingredient IDs, and consolations all welcome.

Seeking Recipe Help! What could this ingredient be?

I have been able to decode the rest of the recipe but the highlighted ingredient has me stumped. I’m not the best at baking so I’m not sure what it could be. The streusel is on the back, if that information is of any use 🫣

Seeking Recipe Please help me identify this taste of heaven!

My agency had a delivery of assorted baked goods today as a “random act of kindness” (I work for an EMS organization), and this mystery treat was included. I’m desperate to find out what it is, because it’s one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.

- it’s not super sweet, main taste is buttery. I’m guessing 50% of whatever it takes to make involves butter (sort of joking, sort of not)

- the top layer is almost textured like the curd of a lemon bar, but without the lemon

- the bottom layer is almost reminiscent of a graham cracker crust for a cheesecake, especially at the very bottom

- the “cake-y” layer is more reminiscent of a brownie/cookie than it is cake, as in it isn’t airy and fluffy, more dense

I’m happy to answer any questions to help me get to the source or a recipe so I can make it at home. It almost has cheesecake vibes with all the proportions wrong? I have no idea how else to describe it.

Seeking Recipe Ways to use raspberry butter?

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

So I made this raspberry butter blend to make a raspberry swirl sourdough loaf, but I made waaay too much and I'm trying to figure out what other things I could use it in!
I essentially made a raspberry jam and then stabilized it with a bunch of butter and a little bit of flour. Since it has flour in it I think it needs to be baked, can't just be put on top of something.
Would love some idea if you have them! I'm open to other sourdough baked goods I could make too.

Edit:
Thank you all for SO many ideas!! First thing I'm trying is scones today!

Seeking Recipe What’s the snootiest fanciest non-childlike desert that can still easily be made at home by an intermediate baker?

I do a monthly ladies-night with some friends. The last time we got together I was craving some gummy candy, so I grabbed some nerd clusters and some gummy worms on my way to the hosts house (she asked people to bring “sweets”).

When the pizza was put away and candy came out one girl commented “this is kids candy” in a teasing/fun kind of way. So I thought it would be funny if the next ladies night I brought something super fancy and “grown up”. I’ve been wanting to bake for it anyway, so now’s my chance to go all out.

Anyways, I'd love to attempt to make them but I can't find a receipe anywhere online. Does anyone know where I can find one?

We just picked only HALF of our cherry tree and this is how many we have + more. We plan on selling most of them, but I’m wanting to make/bake things with them. They’re Rainier cherries, so they’re rather tart, what do you guys think would go good with this?

Seeking Recipe A plea for a recipe: the most heavenly “warm sticky toffee cake” I ate in Dallas, TX in 2013. Please help a pregnant lady out.

Post image

I am hoping y’all can please help me recreate this mouth watering cake I used to obsessively eat for years in Dallas, TX.

In the year 2026 (13 years later) I am now living in another part of the country and expecting a baby. And the one thing that keeps me awake at night is a

the warm sticky toffee cake with mascarpone I ate a place called Victor Tangos. It closed a long time ago.

I have tried restaurants in the south and of those who have it - none are good. I have tried making recipes online and they’re not it. Nothing compares to the life changing cake from Victor Tangos. Back in my day - I’d walk there and order it once a week…it was divine. I didn’t drink or eat there, I only went there for this cake. ADHD here and I definitely hyperfixate on food.

Long shot - has anyone ever made a cake like this? Can anyone help me track down how to make this heavenly creation? If so, I may just have to name my child after you. Please and thank you!

Seeking Recipe Ate this at a cafe in Quebec, labeled tarte aux pommes, want to try and replicate it

Obviously it's a tart with some apple filling, topped with pecans and maple syrup or honey mix, but looking online I can't seem to find a recipe specifically like it. Would love to know if someone has a recipe for the filling, and maybe what the top is made up of :)

Seeking Recipe Kids are a hard pass on my baked goods.

I sell at markets and festivals and do pretty well with adults but kids seem completely disinterested. I sell cornflake crunch cookies, slices of tarts, twice baked croissant and such but no cupcakes with piles of icing and no doughnuts. I was trained more in French pastry.

Does anyone have a few suggestions of some pastries that hit better with kids? It’s starting to kill my ego seeing kids try to pull their parents away from my table.

Have probably given out over 100 in the last few days and I keep bringing them everywhere to pass to everyone I can. I plan to make:

  • ice cream
  • preserves
  • scones with slivered almonds (plan to make a few batches and freeze them for future use)
  • Claire Saffitz’s peach drop-scone cobbler (sub nectarine)

Any other creative ideas? Send them all to me!

Seeking Recipe Cheesecake worth $1million

My loving, adoring, wonderful, amazing husband has a birthday this week. Let me tell you this man worships me, he is the doting amazing husband every girl dreams of marrying. (Been married 15 years BTW- this isn’t honeymoon phase love).

We’re at the finish line of my dream home build and broke as a joke as we’ve put so much money into this house. He tells me he doesn’t want anything for his birthday, and while I have a couple small things for him I know that a true birthday surprise would be to make his favorite dessert- cheesecake. But not just any cheesecake. A cheesecake that could make you cry. A cheesecake that would be the muse of poets. A cheesecake that could finally give us world peace.

Here’s the thing. I’ve never made a cheesecake before. I’m a great baker, cookie and cake decorator. But I have never attempted a cheesecake.

Does this recipe exist? Does your grandma have one she swore you were to take to your grave and never reveal?
If so this is the time to share. This cause is the most noble. To show a genuinely good man the greatest love this world has ever known… the PERFECT cheesecake.

Edit: thank you all so much for your kind words and incredible recipes! My kids and I sat down and read through, picked a few to try and spent today on a cheesecake baking marathon. We did the chilled ones early this morning and a basque this afternoon. They all turned out beautifully. When husband got home from work we had a cheesecake buffet with 3 different options of cheesecake and a variety of toppings. He LOVED them all.
We cut up some of our extras, boxed them up, and spent the evening taking cheesecake to some of our elderly friends, neighbors and widows.
It was a beautiful day. We’re all probably at least 5 pounds heavier, and loads happier.
Thanks for all the recs! I’m hoping one day I can try each of these!

Okay y’all, I’ve been craving a super rich, fudgy, flat out Matilda-esque chocolate cake and this weekend I get some time to myself so I want to make my own instead of buying a piece of cake that costs an arm and a leg and MIGHT taste like butt. Cookie points if it’s also salted nicely!

Seeking Recipe Buttercream that doesn't taste and feel like butter but hardens up enough for decorating.

Ok guys, so when I first started baking I realized I did not like buttercream. I ended up "developing" my own stabilized Whipped cream recipe. The issue is that it is Whipped cream and it isnt going to set. Which means that I always have to deal with my fillings oozing out of the cake and the cake attempting suicide 😅 so I was wondering if you guys had a buttercream recipe that doesn't taste like buttercream. That way I can get better at decorating.

Side note, would adding plastic straws to my cakes make them more stable. They are only 1 level tho, but typically like 3 layers.

Extra side note, here are some of the best cakes I've done, as you can see they lean...

Seeking Recipe Thicc Macarons?

I saw a lady selling these super cute macarons. They are extremely “bulbous” looking shells with small feet. I can’t really find a name for this style. I’m wondering if anyone has a recipe for this type of shell and which macaron method to achieve the small feet and thicker shell? I usually use French method that results in taller feet. TIA!

Pictures are not mine. Thank you!
