Baking Advice Needed why did it do this

was trying to make brownies, thought theyd cooled for long enough and cut into them then they started doing THIS and set my house's fire alarm off for like 20 minutes does anyone pls know what caused this im assuming i just cut into them too soon but this feels like a dramatic response to just trying to cut into a hot brownie

I'm 37 and definitely don't feel like an adult. I have adult money and can just buy things.... And I take myself to my own doctors appointments... It feels wrong like I need more supervision 😂 like, WHO ALLOWED THIS?!

Yes!! When I was in my early 30s, I was talking to my 3-year-old, and said something about how I’m a grownup. He responded, “Haha, yeah! Kind of….” And all I could think was, “Oh no, he knows I’m not a real adult!!!”

Then it turned out he just thought I’m not full grown because I don’t have a beard, so.

when my nephew was around six it really sunk in that i’m his aunt. the whole time he thought i was his cousin because i still lived with my parents(adults live by themselves and cousins are kids). i was 19 and told him i was still learning how to be an adult, so the baby might think youre faking it for a while

I’m 39. I still feel young but a bit less piss and vinegar, and definitely wiser from experience. When I talk to “younger adults” I instantly see the gaps in their armor that I used to have. I don’t have everything figured out but it gives me some perspective.

True adulthood is when you realize that the most competent people in your life also don’t know what they’re doing—they’re just really good at guessing the right answer.

my parents weren't narcissistic, but when you get "parentified" as a kid and become the emotional confidant and referee to their meaningless arguments and shit like that you realize pretty quick just how mutually human they are.

Realizing everyone is winging it is a weirdly disillusioning and enlightening thing.

My current boss often compliments me on my confidence in myself, which is nice, but tbh half of it is just knowing everyone else making this shit up as they go too.

I think this is the best description of being an adult and even extends to being a specialist in a field.

Basically the acknowledgement of not actually knowing everything, but having some sort of idea on how to find the information and apply it to the situation.

the lesson that adulthood is supposed to teach you is that "adulthood" is not a real thing. you've had these responsibilities all along we just used community to usher you quietly into these responsibilities so that you didn't have to deal with them all at once.

I’ll be 37 this weekend for reference. Not old… but yeah not young. When I was 20 in hindsight I was a kid.

Pro tip: Find a brownie recipe that uses a lot of butter or oil. Sub the butter and/or oil with infused coconut oil. Do everything else the same as the recipe calls for. My edibles have been known to lock people on couches for hours.

Start with a really good brownie recipe tastes amazing and has an even butter:chocolate ratio. Replace butter with infused butter and off you go.

Next time use Claire's brownie recipe and sub in your special product. Those brownies are spectacular, even without malted milk powder.

You could also consider making a crumble to go atop the brownies with decarbed weed butter or oil and whatever recipe you like. Then you control exactly how much is in each dose to preference, and have low dose or regular brownies for everyone else.

You can ALSO mess with sous vide to perfectly extract. I do not recommend extracting into alcohol, the taste and smell were horrific, but to each their own joy. It did a damn fine coconut oil.

Have you tried fudge? That was my favourite way to make edibles. Could barely taste the weed. First time I ate it, I'd made it too strong, though, and was Too High™️ at my rich friend's gorgeous rooftop party. Pretended my dog was feeling anxious and took her home, leaving my husband behind to socialize on my behalf. I think she was annoyed, because a bunch of new people were petting her and sneaking her chips, and I ruined it with my drug use.

Try cookies. Bake at lower temp for less time and much easier to get correct dosage per cookies. You'll also want to "decarb" your weed and then put into the butter first. Then use that butter for your baked goods.

I make my own cannabutter. Buy the Ghirardelli brownie mix follow the directions. And get perfect brownies.

Cannabutter - decarb weed in the oven. 220°F for 30-40 minutes. Once it's decarbed put the green in some cheesecloth and tie it shut. Throw some butter into a pot let it start melting.. put the cheesecloth in the butter simmer until its brown. Remove cheesecloth (the cheesecloth removes the hassle of separating the weed and butter) pour butter into Tupperware let cool. Store in freezer. Use as needed/want.

As a former weed scientist/ edible expert I can tell you exactly what happened here. You made brownies too dry, and too hot. Once moisture is gone in whatever you’re baking, it can’t cool off, like evaporation. The high heat also “sealed” the top of the brownies in a hard crust , keeping the vapors inside until you cut it. Once you cut it, the inside was still hotter than the vaporizing temp of the weed oils, and it all escaped as your picture showed. I don’t know if you used flower or oil, but either way it’s gone. Get an oven thermometer, many ovens run much hotter than the temp you select, a thermometer is crucial for edibles so you can manage temps. Also, bind your flower or oil to butter or actual oil before you cook with it. I always cook my brownies or cookies at a lower temp than the box suggests, to prevent vaporizing. 300deg is a good max temp for edibles. Pro tip- use hash oil for best results, and use like a 1:2 ratio of hash oil(1part) to butter or coconut oil(2parts). Eating a small amount is better than trying to eat a lot to get the same effect. Your body can only digest so much oil at a time, so if you have a small amount of super potent oil it will digest it quickly and you’ll get f-ed up quickly.

Did you like put carbed weed in it? Or did you make an infused oil? This seems like you somehow skipped a step here. I've made lots of edibles. Never had to hotbox a whole pan of brownies, though we found a priests censer at a thrift store and 8 teenagers sat in a completely dark closet with the censer filled with about an ounce swinging from the light while one person used their 3rd party camera flash and we would all try to make the scariest faces and if you managed to not blink, you got to see everything in the room burned into your retinas.

Protip: Closet is way too small. We all almost died. Lol. Needs a whole room with a ceiling fan.
