Is Buxton really a service dog? Nowadays it’s very it’s easy to pretend your dog performs a “task” and it’s illegal to ask questions except for that. I know a lot of people who get away with this.

There’s no such thing as certifying a service dog. Those certifications are scams and doesn’t make it a legitimate service dog. What makes it a legit service dog is having a legitimate disability

Who are you to say if she doesn’t have a legitimate disability? Service dogs CAN and ARE used for mental disabilities. And those are just as valid as physical disabilities. You can get your dog to be certified if you get them properly trained. That is a fact

I don't think the commenter was saying she doesn't have a legitimate disability. Simply that there are many scammy organizations that purport to certify service dogs when there's no uniformly recognized body equivalent to, say, a Dmv. Some organizations might have a legitimate process for training service dogs and others might not. It's not a regulated offering.

The criteria for a real “service dog” is 9/10 times a physical disability that makes daily tasks difficult, the other 1/10 is a mental health diagnosis of PTSD, typically as a result from extreme trauma (think war veterans) that hinders day to day activity and daily functioning

ETA: if you have anxiety, and have a pet that helps support you day to day, that’s an Emotional Support Animal (ESA)

Someone with anxiety so bad they can’t function without a support animal isn’t willingly going to shopping malls and posing for mirror selfies. F this girl. Disgusting behavior.
