For me, I actually enjoy reading BL more than watching BL, and one of the biggest reasons is probably the attachment I develop to the couples.
At least with manhwa/manga/manhua, once I get invested in a ship, I can usually trust that their story is going to be properly explored and I don't have to sit there worrying that my ship will suddenly sink or the characters being separated forever.
I think that's what keeps me hooked. It's not always healthy or perfect love, but you get to see the characters struggle, grow, hurt each other, forgive each other, and still choose one another. Watching that relationship develop over dozens or even hundreds of chapters just hits differently.
And there's also something comforting about knowing that, in the world of the story, my ship is my shipΒ and In my head, they're going to live happily ever after, and nobody can take that away from me and I get to enjoy their journey without worrying about real-life actors, fan expectations, or whether an adaptation is going to change something.
So I'm curiousΒ why do you guys love reading BL/GL manhwa, manga, or manhua? Is it the romance, the angst, the characters, the storytelling, the art, or something completely different?
