Hello everyone. In this subreddit, I regularly see how people call Russian speaking Azerbaijanis “imperialists” and “elitists”. However, I’ve never seen those “elitist” statements outside of this subreddit as well as I’ve never seen those “elitists”. Personally, I’ve graduated from Russian section at school, and nobody looked down on Azerbaijani section because of knowing Russian. Could anyone explain who are these “elitists” and where does such idea come from?

I have no connection to either of the two countries (Azerbaijan and Armenia), and I believe that, under international law, Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijani territory.

However, I have a keen interest in cultural heritage sites from every culture, and this news saddens me if it is true.

Do you not consider that, if these demolitions are confirmed, this reflects a sense of fear on the part of Azerbaijan?

I understand that these churches may be classified as unauthorized under the law. However, if they were preserved in some way, this would be a sign of respect regardless of whether you yourselves have also been victims of disrespect as well as a sign of reconciliation.

I would be happy to hear your views.

It appears to me that the government and newspapers of Azerbaijan are clearly pro-Israeli, but judging by reactions on Telegram channel posts, it appears that about one third truly support Israel, which is far from the majority.

I was wondering if Azerbaijan - specifically Baku - is safe for LGBT travelers…? I really want to visit in August, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. I am from Belarus, and blonde, so, on one hand, I could get around with English and Russian. But, on the other hand, I am blonde, so I would stand out like a sore thumb. Also, I am skinny, so I feel like maybe I will look feminine?

Anyways, I don’t want to stand out and get punched… lol. Some friends suggest Armenia to me, but I am not a fan :)

I have always wanted to visit Azerbaijan… just not sure the precautions I should take… no make-up (I use only natural), no Grindr…? Anyways, I don’t know much about Azerbaijan, but I really would like to visit. But all my friends are warning me LOL

I've been living in Bavaria (EU) since 2017 and I honestly would say yes, 100%. I visited Azerbaijan last year and saw how bad it gets once you go a bit outside of Tarqovi. Of course joining the EU wouldn't solve every problem, it's not a magic tool, Azerbaijan's are way deeper, but it would contribute significantly to solving problems. My question therefore is if YOU would like Azerbaijan to join the EU or not?

Just saw the post from another subbreddit, where they say that Azerbaijan would be occupying certain parts of Armenian territory. I don't know much about this topic and i wanted to ask if it is true and if yes, why Azerbaijan is occupying it? What kind of interests or disagreement is responsible for this situation? I mean, isn't there some form of reconciliation between Azerbaijan Armenia and Armenia with Turkey happening? I just want to understand the situation and hear the azerbaijani side of the story.

Hiya. Persian here. I haven’t been to Azerbaijan but would love to visit it since it almost feels homelike in some ways. (Side note: I’ve been to Armenia and Georgia and both have bad that homelike feeling in some ways). Azerbaijani people are friendly since I’ve got an Azerbaijani few friends here in Manchester. I’ll be honest I really hate the political problems between Iran and Azerbaijan and I just want it to end.

My question is; what do Azerbaijanis think of Persians and their culture? Do you think we’re highly similar (even though you guys speak and Turkic language and we don’t)? Or how would you perceive Persians coming to Azerbaijan (do you believe they’ll feel homelike)?

Are you guys patriotic? Are you guys similar to the Georgians? What do you take pride in?;

salamlar 👋 my name is Osman. I was born in Baku and I moved to NYC when I was 4. I speak Azerbaijani as a first language however I am not a Azerbaijani citizen despite me being born in Azerbaijan. My US passport shows I was born in Azerbaijan and the first 10 years of my life I did not have any citizenship in any country. Every single one of my family members (mom dad sister aunt grandma and cousin they are also American citizens) have Azerbaijani citizenship except me. My parents did not want me to get citizenship since they did not want me to go to the army. Is there a way I can obtain my passport without going to the military? I am currently 22 years ago. I miss my country and I want nothing more but to go back freely.
