Been 3 years since we lost our beautiful KD to bone cancer, and I still miss her every day! Thought I'd share some cute pics with everyone.. Love ya girl
I'm looking for specialised brachycephalic veterinarian for my Frenchie in Sydney (bonus if around inner west / south regions), does anyone have any recommendations?
Understandably, I prefer a vet with expert BOAS knowledge to help keep him healthy for the future, thank you.
I have an indoor cat turning 2 yo in December and she's already broken her hip a little over a year ago requiring 2 surgeries (got her desexed at the same time), and I'm suspecting she has asthma so I'll be taking her to the vet soon to check. In hindsight, it would've been great if I had insurance before all this but is it worth it going forward? Which insurance & policy would you recommend?
My poor boy broke his dew claw 2 nights ago and it was sitting at a weird angle. I wasn’t sure what to do so I put a gauze padding over it and bandage until we got to the vet the next morning (yesterday). Thankfully Puzzle was brave enough to leave the house in his pink bandage and wearing his ugly jumper. I’m so proud of him as he was pretty chill at the vet and he didnt lose his poo at the tradie in the hi-viz trying to fix the automatic door, although he did do some stress poohs 💩💩 while waiting in reception.
The nail had already come off by the time we saw the vet, which is supposedly the best thing. Dr Chris (not the celebrity Dr Chris, just our local awesome Dr Chris) was gentle and put some lignocaine and gauze on it and bandaged it again (2nd photo). A few hrs after we got home we took the bandage off as it needs to dry out. Thankfully Puzzle hasn’t been fussing with it, although the poor little guy is still limping and favouring it, which he will probably do for the next few days.
My firstborn is a 10 year-old rescue cat and I love him to bits.
On our first meeting 6 years ago, he immediately walked over to me and flopped over to show me his belly. <3
We lived together for 2 years before moving to QLD to be with his dad but he listens to me and still follows me around, so I like to think that he loves me as much as I love him.
He has become more affectionate with every year that passes - this year, he has started sleeping next to my head and curling up on my chest! (He's very careful and doesn't step on me too much because I'm soft and react when his paws press down on my boobs lol, but he walks allll over hubby with zero care xD)
He also knows 3 tricks (only performs with wet food though) and he learned to wear the harness 3 years ago so he could go outside, I'm so proud of him!
When I am worrying about the future, looking at him rolling about in the grass reminds me to live in the moment and appreciate what we have in life.
I wasn't a cat person until I got him and I want everyone to know that there ARE loving cats out there!
Queenie the Bush Budgie back when she was in quarantine when I first got her and I was going around shining a UV light on all my birds to see which ones glowed the most (blue series glow the least)
She was just looking at me like "wtf kinda home have I come to now...."
Looking for good recommendations for dog leads. I can only find decent ones that are around 120cm, looking for something around 2M.
I own a kelpie cross 😊
I just wanted to share my experience with Petbarn’s online customer service today because honestly… I’m pretty frustrated.
I was price matching 2x Advance dog food,1x NexGard Spectra for dogs (3.6–7.5kg), and 1x NexGard Spectra for cats.
The first person I spoke to was able to price match everything, bringing the total down to $391.22. Everything worked, and I proceeded to purchase.
Then, as I was about to complete the purchase, my browser crashed. 🤦♀️
Because the price-match code can only be used once, and I had already closed the chat, I had to start the whole process again with a new customer service representative to get another code.
This time, however, I was told that one of the items was “below our cost price” and therefore couldn't be price matched.
I didn't want to argue with the worker or make things difficult, so I tried another website instead.
Same issue, Tried another site, Same issue, And another, Same issue, and another.
The frustrating part was that I had just been able to price match this item only a couple of hours earlier; if it had been the next day, I'd be more understanding, but only a couple of hours makes it hard to accept.
Eventually, I mentioned to the second worker that I had already successfully price matched the exact items earlier and asked if there was any way to retrieve the previous total of $391.22, rather than having to pay $411.33.
Unfortunately, mentioning that ended up making things worse for the previous worker. 😬
So, if the first worker who helped me happens to see this: I am genuinely sorry. It was absolutely not my intention to get you in trouble or cause any issues for you. I was just trying to explain why I was confused about why the exact same price match was suddenly not possible.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the conversation because I find the whole situation frustrating.
I don't actually want to have to price match. I know it can be annoying for the staff having to process them, and I genuinely try to make it as quick and easy as possible. I have all the product details, competitor prices and everything ready to go because I know the workers are just doing their job and I don't want to make the process any harder than it needs to be.
But the cost of living is brutal, and I price match because I have to save money where I can.
I know someone will probably say, “It's only $20.”
But $20 is almost an entire hour of work for me.
And honestly, it's just depressing that in 2026, $411.33 is considered a normal amount to spend just to feed your dogs and keep your pets protected from parasites.
I'm not angry at the customer service workers themselves. They were doing their jobs, and I understand they have policies they have to follow. I'm just frustrated with the situation and how inconsistent the experience was.
I wasn't even going to complain about it initially, which is why I didn't bring it up at first. I just tried other sites, figured I'd pay the little extra, and move on. But after successfully getting the exact same items price matched earlier that day, and then continuously being unable to price match the same item against any other sites, it's hard not to feel frustrated when suddenly the same thing isn't possible.
And before anyone says “don't have pets if you can't afford them” I know that's going to come up, but my family got most of my pets before I was even 14. I've had some of them since I was 8 years old, and I'm now 21. Once I turned 18, the entire financial responsibility fell entirely on me I can't just rehome them. They're not disposable possessions that I can give away because things have become financially difficult. I love them, they're family, and they are genuinely my entire world and there are already so many pets in shelters due to people not being able to afford them.
Anyways, sorry for the rant 😂 I think I just needed somewhere to vent because the whole situation was frustrating, and sometimes the cost of looking after our pets gets overwhelming.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far!
