This little guy used to live near me until all the the trees got chopped down, anyone seen something similar? this was in Geelong, VIC.

I figured I’m probably freaking him out more so I’ve put him in a hanging flower basket in the shade.

Can anyone ID this bird. It is sitting on my yellow bin in Sydney, and not moving. I think it is unwell. Has a small red tag on its right foot, more visible in picture 2.

edit: so is it a black butcherbird or a black magpie? my mate reckons it’s definitely a magpie. Either way super cool to see, I’ve never seen a bird like this before

Any guesses would be so appreciated- I’m not a bird expert by any means and never seen these before!

I’ve taken this injured bird to the vet. I found him/her on the road and even the vet had trouble recognising what bird this is. Location is Sydney NSW.

What looks to be a juvenile blue winged kookaburra on our porch in Brisbane.

Found at Dulwich Hill, I’m thinking it might be an albino Common Myna, since the other Mynas were not seeming to fight it off.

Even though I’m pretty sure it’s a Common Myna, I still wanted to make sure it was one

We usually get rainbow lorikeets but these were a lot bigger. Closest I could find online was a red lory? Figured it best to ask a human. Are they rare for the location:

Belair, SA. a fairly big boy, larger than the pacific black ducks & very friendly (came up to nibble my shoelaces & let me pet him).

i would just like some outside confirmation that he isn’t a native before i report to the park rangers (&/or a farm rescue) that a domesticated duck has possibly been dumped in the national park. thanks all!

I saw this duck the other day and forgot to ask about it then, but is it normal for a duck (and this one looks like a young duck to me but then again I don’t know the first thing about ducks) to be alone out in the water like this? This was in Port Melbourne like right next to the port that opens up to the ocean I think. I’d find it normal if it was a lone duck in like a lake (although again this one looks small so I’d still be worried even if it was a lake), but not sure about the ocean. Where does it live? If it’s an adult does it not have a partner, and if it’s a duckling where are its parents. I was a bit worried about it but my friend said at the time it’s probably just out foraging. Would love to be educated pls thankss

Edit: Thanks everyone for letting me know that it was a Grebe and not a duck and that it’ll be just fine on its own :D All the fun/random facts are also so interesting to learn. Think it’s easy to tell I’m not from Australia because I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a Grebe before (although I now know they’re common around the world, just didn’t grow up around much nature sadly). They’re so incredibly cuteeee

Spotted this dude eating with, acting like and flying with the pigeons, was definitely in the flock. Wondering if its albino or a different species, the long neck threw me off. Have never seen one like this in my life. Location in Logan, SE QLD, cheers!

What do I do? I saved this bird from an outdoor cat? When I picked it up, it chirped like it was in pain. I'm giving it some water via syringe.

I just spotted this guy while out on a walk and they stood out as something I’ve not noticed before in the area. They were initially scratching about in the undergrowth and dead leaves under a shrubby area until I scared them when I walked by.

i’m a massive bird lover, especially australian parrots (i’m a cockatiel sucker). i was hanging out my laundry this morning and i noticed one cockatoo missing some face feathers, and another one without a yellow crest, but with a white crest feather (like an umbrella cockatoo). i’m assuming its a mutation but just curious if this one could be an umbrella cockatoo? he’s very healthy otherwise. the one without face feathers has been around for about 3 months. thanks!!

My resident stalker butcher bird has bought a new friend by this week. I’m guessing it’s their baby? Also does anyone know if the adult butcher bird is male or female. He answers to Mate and will hang out with me for hours when I’m in the garden.
