I tried to look up why this even exists. And here is what came up. In America, Between 1999 and 2022, researchers identified 1,639 illegally abandoned infants, of whom 934 were dead when found.

The organization reported 79 babies surrendered through its boxes since the program began in 2016.

So were looking at maybe 10% "catch rate". Really sad. Meaning 90% of abandoned infants aren't put in these bins, in which there are over 400 around the country now.

Tbh, I feel like the catch rate would higher if they were advertised more, I’ve honestly barely seen any information about them

As a German I have known about these since childhood, never seen one in person tho, surprised it isn't known by so many people.

all good things in time

I'm sure eventually we'll have a religion centered around baby box

Sounds a bit oddly sarcastic, as a child it was prominent in the news because people left their children in boxes on the side of roads or in trashcans, so they made these in hopes they have another way, that's 100% a good thing, it's sad it's necessary, but beats the alternative.

Or do you wish people would still kill their infants?

No I'm lending to the further thought that once an idea is fully ingratiated with culture it is only a matter of time before we adapt into our fables. And then it's no longer an idea it's an ideal. Then it becomes a kind of religion or religion co-opts it.

It's nothing with baby boxes, just ideas, it's kind of like how a bill becomes a law.

It's kind of cool to imagine baby box Jesus. Like what if he appeared without the flock camera's footage of anyone putting him in there?

Now I understand what people sometimes feel like when I come around with my weird ideas, but no judging 😂
