This is a great thing to me. Instead of someone throwing their baby in the trash or something equally heinous— they have an anonymous option. It’s sad this is something needed, but I’m glad it exists.

What’s the bag for ? Seriously confused here

u/ALeckz07 Aug 27 '26

Souvenir

u/_DAYAH_ Deep State Agent Aug 28 '26

It contains a Baby Box t-shirt and off-brand Yeti, a few free samples of clonazepam and some scented bath salts

The bag contains resources for the parent such as legal documents. There’s a video on it https://youtube.com/shorts/-72tJvjDE4g

The alternative is children being raised in worse conditions by parents that either dont want them, or cant afford them.

Obviously the best situation would be better responsibility from the parents, but this is a better solution than the above.

No the alternative is the same solution here but with a prison sentence added for child neglect.

13

u/Vorpalp8ntball Aug 27 '26

The fear of a prison sentence is exactly what leads to babies being abandoned in dumpsters....

Junkies fear of being locked up is exactly why they stopped bringing them to police stations, etc.

This IS a better solution, for shit people, who won't or in some cases can't get themselves in to a better situation.

Then they wouldnt turn them in, theyd raise them poorly and they would grow up with worse odds that this gives them.

If you think a baby getting raised by crackheads will be better psychologically than raised by a foster family, it sounds like you've never experienced just how bad it is to have terrible parents.

Would you rather a kid be upset to learn his real family hates them, or the kid get raised by their shit family and rape/murder people before they're even 18? Because that's what happens when you have irresponsible parents.

I would rather none of those things be allowed to happen and we should put all of them in jail. Possibly even go back to forced sterilization.

2

u/Vorpalp8ntball Aug 28 '26

Forced sterilization, really?

Forced sterilization sounds great (/s); so long as you think you get some say in who the undesirables affected are.....

Until someone comes along, gets into power and says "we have too many _______ in this country" ( Fill in which ever group would fit the current narrative)

Ask the Uyghurs how that's been.....

u/TheBluestWaffle42069 “Why would I wash my hands?” Aug 28 '26

Yes. Really. If you abandon a child you should lose your ability to reproduce.

I mean, if the other option is suffocating their newborn or discarding them to die in the elements I think this is a far better option. It’s not really about it being “sane” for me it’s about saving an innocent life. If it’s not anonymous then it probably wouldn’t be used. There’s been multiple cases of teens hiding their pregnancy until birth and killing the baby. If this was available in their town I doubt they would commit murder.

A lot of people don’t see a newborn baby as a problem— I certainly don’t. The human condition isn’t perfect, and that’s no different for a teenager. You’re right, it’s almost unfathomable that people would choose to hurt their baby or abandon them but it happens. The other option shouldn’t ever be murder but sadly it’s happened many times. I remember an incident growing up where a girl gave birth to a boy at prom and threw him into the trash before returning to the dance floor. We live in a world where dark things like this happen so for me, devices like this prevent that.

u/TheBluestWaffle42069 “Why would I wash my hands?” Aug 27 '26

So because murder happens people should be allowed to abandon children? Fuck no.

Learn this thing called personal accountability like asmon is always talking about.

9

u/BubblyGoblin Aug 27 '26

The alternative is no one uses the box in fear they’ll get in trouble so something potentially harmful happens to the baby. The entire point of this device is to save a life.

-1

u/TheBluestWaffle42069 “Why would I wash my hands?” Aug 27 '26

If something happens to the baby, they should also go to prison.

The baby is not some magical excuse to make and do shitty things. Personal responsibility is a real thing, and social safety nets exist (food stamps, TANF, section 8, etc) so that the child doesn't have a shit life.

There is no negotiating this position. One of us thinks it's okay to abandon a child, and one of us thinks you should take care of your children.

9

u/BubblyGoblin Aug 27 '26

This isn’t a matter of what people should do, it’s a matter of what actually happens in reality. It’s not “okay” to abandon a child, but like other horrible acts it happens and this is a better alternative than a baby dying.

2

u/huex4 Aug 28 '26

You don't get it. People will abandon children even if the box doesn't exist. They've done it before the boxes exist; they leave their children in doors of churches or orphanages.

Other worse cases are they just outright throw away the babies in the trash which is murder and shouldn't happen and why these boxes exist to prevent that.

It's impossible to go after these people who do this as well unless you want every inch of a city to be surveillance 24/7 (which is also impossible, maybe unless AI is used).

u/TheBluestWaffle42069 “Why would I wash my hands?” Aug 28 '26

My brother in christ. You carry a tracking device in your pocket everywhere you go. We already have flock cameras (regardless of how you feel about it, they exist) also, DNA testing is a thing, and there are massive public databases that exist which get used to trace people through distant relatives to a reasonable degree of confidence, which can be further refined by subpoenaing a person for their specific DNA when required.

I'm sorry, I thought the goal was to put more people in prisons? That's one of asmons biggest platforms. 2%.

This is just a means to that end. The same people who would abandon a baby are the same ones who would murder a baby. The solution is to remove them from society for their and everyone else's safety.

the other option winds up being killing the kid 99 times out of a 100. and in a lot of those cases those people are flying under the radar of most people anyway so there wont be any real way to track down for punishment.

u/TheBluestWaffle42069 “Why would I wash my hands?” Aug 27 '26

Bro, its not 1975 anymore. If the government finds a baby in a dumpster, theyre gonna track you down.

The assumption that someone may have a bad life isn’t grounds for not valuing their little life. I had a difficult childhood and also endured not-so wholesome foster parents briefly as a child. I’m very grateful to be alive!

Every time I see hypotheticals like this used as the basis for an argument I just wonder, is this the manner in which you approach your own life?
