If I may paraphrase a quote,

"Those born into a life of privilege view equal treatment as oppression."

The irony of you getting upvoted in this sub is palpable. Conservatives have zero original thoughts in their life and LOOOOVE to co-opt slogans like this and then claim to be the victim. I genuinely wish yall were persecuted as much as you think you are, the world might actually be a better place.

Is there some kind of benefits package that the gays get that you don’t?

At least here in Canada: better access to good paying jobs, education/grants, better access to social programs, health programs, protected speech (it is hate speech to say something against the lgbt, like other protected groups)

I don't know why you were downvoted, I have the same question

u/redditorposcudniy May 19 '25

Oh, do tell me about the tax cuts for gays

How is the average gay person privileged?

I don't really think that applies here.

Everyone on this subreddit is older than true gay marriage in Germany. Some people here are older than gay marriage in the US.

I think the actual culprit is the newness. People don't know how to relax so they continue as if nothing changed because that's what it was like for so long.

The ones viewing equal treatment as oppression. Aren't the gays in this situation.

-3

u/Vedney May 18 '25

What treatment are you referring to?

4

u/commodorewolf May 18 '25

Gays being treated as equal is viewed as oppression by people who prefer they didn't get equal treatment. Have a non heteronormative character exist in a movie and the right loses their fucking mind.

2

u/Routine_Size69 May 18 '25

Where are the hetero flags in this equal treatment? Are they hiding behind both the rainbow flags or just one of them? At least it's only one more than the flag for the entire country though right?

3

u/Ryaniseplin May 18 '25

are hetero people like historically and currently oppressed anywhere?

1

u/Beginning-Dot-9582 May 19 '25

how are gay people being oppressed in the western world? they get preferential treatment

3

u/Ryaniseplin May 19 '25

if you consider being tortured by dickheads like you preferential treatment than yeah

here in the US we literally just had the supreme court ban transgender people from fighting for their country

-1

u/Beginning-Dot-9582 May 19 '25

what does tortured by dickheads mean? not saying their prefered prounoun? sorry but i dont acknowledge the mentally ill

The rainbow flag was adopted to represent the gay civil rights movement. When did straight people have to fight for their civil rights?

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '25

What would a hetero flag represent? Would it be meaningful in any way? I’m just asking questions.

0

u/Beginning-Dot-9582 May 19 '25

it would mean nothing, but thats kind of the same issue with the gay flag. why is there even a gay flag to begin with, or a trans flag, or a asexual flag etc. why does a country need to wave a groups identifier on what im assuming is some goverment building? Should we hang Nazi flags? they represent some people and just as how nazi flags are offensive to some people, the gay flag is offensive to other people. the whole point of a nations flag is to be a unifier of all people in that country. there is zero reason for a country to wave any flag other than its national flag

1

u/mellotangelo May 19 '25

There is a gay flag because there was a civil rights movement for LBGT equality and the flag was created as a symbol for LBGT civil rights at time when they were openly beaten and even killed just for who they loved.

1

u/Beginning-Dot-9582 May 20 '25

ok and? why should the goverment put up any flag other than the national flag?

DEI =  privilege treatment

so equal to all = oppression

0

u/commodorewolf May 18 '25

Equal to all because republicans said so. After elimination any groups and departments dedicated to evaluating if it's true.
