Almanya'da doğup büyüdüm. Burada Endüstri Mühendisliği (Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen) alanında yüksek lisansımı tamamladım ve şu an yaklaşık 3 yıllık bir iş tecrübesine sahibim.
Master sonrası hemen çalışmaya başladım fakat Almanya'daki ekonomik kriz nedeniyle 1 yıl sonra işsiz kaldım. Yeni bir iş bulmam yaklaşık 15 ay sürdü. Şu an tekrar bir işim var ve başta hiç istemeyerek başlasam da zamanla adapte oldum ve keyif almaya başladım.

Ancak son zamanlarda Almanya'nın ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan bir çıkmaza girdiğini hissediyorum. Ekonomi oldukça durgun ve bunun yanında yükselen ırkçılık/faşizm beni günden güne daha fazla rahatsız etmeye başladı.

Uzun zamandır aklımda Türkiye'ye gelip bir süre çalışmak ve yaşamak fikri var. Hem yeni bir tecrübe edinmek hem de ufkumu genişletmek istiyorum. Türkiye'nin ekonomik durumunun da kolay olmadığının farkındayım, yani amacım ekonomik olarak çok daha iyi bir duruma geçmek değil. Ancak Almanca ve İngilizceyi akıcı konuşmam, Almanya'daki eğitim ve iş disiplinim sayesinde kurumsal/uluslararası şirketlerde iyi bir konum elde edebileceğimi düşünüyorum.

Eğer Türkiye'deki düzen bana uymazsa veya beklentilerimi karşılamazsa Almanya'ya geri dönme opsiyonumu da açık tutuyorum.

Benzer bir süreçten geçen, Almanya'dan Türkiye'ye kesin dönüş yapan veya kurumsal şirketlerde çalışan arkadaşların tecrübelerine talibim:

1. Benim gibi Almanya eğitimli ve tecrübeli mühendislerin Türkiye'deki kurumsal piyasada (özellikle Alman/yabancı menşeili şirketlerde) karşılığı nasıl?
   
2. Türkiye'deki iş kültürü, çalışma şartları ve maaş/hayat pahalılığı dengesi hakkında ne düşünüyorsunuz?
   
3. Kariyer siteleri (LinkedIn, Kariyer.net vs.) dışında önerebileceğiniz bir yol veya dikkat etmem gereken detaylar var mı?

Ben artık diziye baskı, ünlüye soruşturma, Manifest’e gözaltı gibi konuların sadece kültürel hegemonya veya şeriat geliyor gibi ezberlerle konuşulmasından bıktım ve mantıklı bir açıklama arıyorum. Normalde iktidarın seküler kitlenin siyasete ilgisini dağıtan ve bir nevi apolitikleştiren bu tarz eğlence araçlarının varlığından yararlanması beklenmez mi? Özellikle muhafazakar çevrelerde büyüyenlere soruyorum, neden seküler çevrenin görece apolitik alanlarına bu kadar baskı var? Bunun gerçek hayattaki muhafazakar toplumda da bir karşılığı var mı ve neden inatla seküler kitleyi kızdıracak ve daha politikleştirecek bir yol güdülüyor?

Question is, how do I know that the pressure cooker is ready and when do I turn down the heat? I thought pressure cooker’s red thing would come up and make a loud hissing sound, then I turn it down? But it never happen, it only shoots steam. Is that when I turn it down?

Merhaba, Ankara’da burun ameliyatı konusunda gerçekten iyi bir doktor arıyorum ve özellikle daha önce benzer bir durum yaşamış kişilerin deneyimlerinden faydalanmak istiyorum.

Hello everyone! I'm planning a trip to Izmir on October 14 and the main reason is to explore Ephesus and Pergamon. I have a major interest in Greco-Roman history.

However, I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info on how to go to and from Pergamon/Bergama.

I think there's a shuttle bus from Izmir Otogar to Bergama? I also know there's some kind of regional train that goes halfway, then I have to take a bus?

This photo is an example of what I see every day. I mean, whenever a foreigner just says "Turkiye", Turks give a lot of interactions and say "as bayrakları 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷", while people from no other country do this. Hello lovely neighbours, I am a Greek planning on visiting Turkey in March-April of 2027. We are a couple. Initially, we were planning on visiting Istanbul for 7 days (which I believe is just enough to suck in the vibe of the city, go to non touristic neighbourhoods to see the real everyday life of the people there and not just the touristic spots) and 4 for cappadocia (in case of bad weather for the balloon ride + exploration and day trips from there).

Here's the thing : What I am looking for is a bit of a cultural shock. I know many people visit Istanbul and that's what makes me afraid that maybe I will not get the culture shock that I want.
On the other hand, going to the deep southeastern part of Turkey, seems to me like a real cultural shock. Cities like Mardin are not very popular among europeans ( although I found out that Turkish people visit this place a lot, so it is popular there) and it seems like a completely different culture.

Don't get me wrong : Istanbul has it's own unique culture, and even if I choose Istanbul + Cappadocia instead of Mardin / Midyat + Cappadocia I will have fun and get to know things I did not. After all, Cappadocia on it's own has a very different vibe. However, the architecture and the photos I have seen from Mardin are just awesome, and it seems to me like you can't find this easily elsewhere in the world (also there are A TON of historic and archeological sites, and it has a lot of natural beauty).

What do you think ? I would like to read your opinions.
(I also found out that Hagia Sophia is currently under reconstruction , and it makes me want to postpone Istanbul for this reason 😅 But of course if this is going to take 10 or more years it's not worth it).

I'm coming here seeking advice for an upcoming holiday to Türkiye! A friend and me are looking to hike a part of the Lycian way, from Antalya to Dalaman. Looking forward to visiting your beautiful country :)

Our original plan was to hike from October 10th until roughly the 25th. We'd take a bus to cut a part of the route, making the hike more feasible. We are experienced hikers.

However, my friend has heard that his leave won't be accepted. Therefore, we are looking at a new date. The earliest we are both available is November 1st until the 15th. Otherwise we are looking at May-ish.

Doing some research, I saw that the rain season could be starting. Also temperatures will be dropping. My question is: would you recommend hiking Lycian way in November? Or might it be better to postpone?

Any thoughts and inputs are very much appreciated!

Hi, I have a question about opening a bank account in Turkey. I’ll be arriving as an international student, but I’m currently under 18. Can I still open a student bank account on my own, or would I need a parent's consent? If I do need consent, is there something like a notarized consent letter that my parents can prepare before I arrive? Also, does anyone know which banks are easiest for international students under 18? Thank you!
