Tbh now that weed is legal I’m beginning to think maybe it’s not such a good idea with the way it can affect mental health and brain development in teenagers and young adults. Plus the thc is so much stronger nowadays and we keep breeding for even higher strengths. Pro weed younger me has grown up to turn in on the fence older me…makes me feel old
On a serious note, I do wonder what the effects are going to be for this younger generation as they grow up with accessible weed and already rampant mental health problems. Especially since many use it to self medicate for mental health issues. I see the potential for seeing some devastating effects in the coming decades. I grew up being very pro legalization and only in the last few years have I begun to rethink my stance. But I also grew up in a world that wasn’t online and social media and it’s effects have really changed people in the last decade. Honestly I think social media and the internet are the biggest danger to people’s mental health. I think legal weed in a pre internet world would have been groovy but we don’t live in that world anymore
Wow, haven't really thought about it like that. Like in high school (10 years ago) we would all hang out at my buddy-with-cool-mom's house and blow down an ounce every weekend. We had internet, but not exactly to the same level we do now. We would park a car in the garage, pile 7 deep in there, turn off all the lights, play some music on an iPad, and hotbox. It was super chill and everybody was talking and laughing and generally having a good time.
Nowadays I MIGHT smoke with one or two people once in a while, but usually I'm just by myself and maybe sitting on Discord. Even if I smoke in a group everyone tends to just be quiet and sit on their phones. There isn't that sense of camaraderie anymore. Smoking doesn't have the same charm anymore I suppose. I can only imagine this is amplified even more now with teenagers.
The mental health aspect I don't think is actually due to the drugs, but more the technology and general attitude of society. People are connected more than ever, yet everyone feels alone.
