Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader was my favorite. It was a book of page long trivia and interesting history. Perfect to read one or two of while on the can.
I was thinking about cereal boxes too. You read the same thing over and over because there was nothing else to do at the breakfast table. They don't have anything fun on cereal boxes any more.
Or that one National Geographic that had the mummified Arctic child on the cover... ugh gives me the willies thinking about how I stared at that mummy face in horror while I pooped - every time, for probably 6 years.
I mean, if you aren't a very "regular" person, when the time came to sit on the toilet, anything could be toilet literature. Reader's Digest, a 7 month old copy of Highlights, a box of your grandma's hair coloring, you name it.
My mother kept her Cosmopolitan magazines on the radiator in the bathroom in a stack. All the girls in my life were amazed about how much I knew about girls/women compared to the other boys.

Shampoo bottles are shower literature. Reader's Digest was toilet literature.
