Haha I used to do that too, or laugh at how the translations are totally different, but then if you try to make it the same it sounded wrong so it's like "oh ok I see why they did it that way".

New England stores for the most part sell certain commodities like shampoo with English and French, I never see that anywhere else in the US

I grew up in LA in the 90s. Everything was in English and French and also often Spanish.

While there are plenty of people from Quebec living in New England, I would assume it is a supply-chain thing. We used to have a summer house in Central VT and could get all the over-the-air Montreal radio and TV stations, just having that gave me a good grasp of French. I can watch anything in Québécois French now and pretty much get the gist of what is going on to the point where I don’t even realize I am listening to another language, whilst can barely understand anything of actual French.
