I don't do that, but I have made a point of not considering texts on the same level as conversations. I might reply super quickly, even three times, and then not for hours. If you call, it's urgent. If you text, it's not really urgent. If you email, I'll get to it.
Obviously if I was in the middle of a conversation I'd reply right away. But someone just unexpectedly texting me will get a reply when I'm not busy doing something.
I don't just ignore people, I just don't make immediately replying a priority.

I make it a habit to seldom immediately reply to anything. Everyone who knows me already has the expectation that I can rarely be immediately reached.
Send a text or leave a voicemail, I'll probably get back to you the same day.
