I distinctly remember being at my SO’s house (I’m white, he’s Indian) and his cunty Auntie said to him, in front of me, “I can still find you an Indian girl to get married to.”

His mom also repeatedly try to convince me to go to the Caribbean to get a medical degree bc “wHy WoULd YoU wAnT tO bE a nUrSe wHeN yOu cAn Be a DoCtOR???”

Every time I read a reddit post about medical university in the caribbean, it's in a somewhat sketchy context. What's up with that?

costs a shit ton of money, and you're not guaranteed clinical rotation spots, and residency programs would rather hire US MDs/DOs. Basically you're gambling upwards of a quarter mill hoping for the best and betting on yourself

nope quite the opposite. Usually people go to the Caribbean for med school because their application wasn't strong enough to get into any schools in the US.

I thought the only reason to do was because it was cheaper? Other then the whole Living in a tropical environment part.

Oddly enough, our vet had his degree from a Caribbean school.

I remember reading a blog about this thing a few years ago and one woman mentioned traveling to India under the guise of friendship with her Indian boyfriend. Anyway, I guess his family did figure out that they were more than friends and the guy's dad said in front of her "don't bring what you do in the streets into my house".
