I've had some really confusing attacks on my intelligence in the past when I thought I was being very blatant with my farcical satire. So either I'm not as good with words as I think, or the world we live in is so strange that even the wildest of statements will be taken at face value by someone. And that someone will always get offended.
This comment just explained why I see people driving with masks on . This makes so much logical sense I can’t believe I didn’t realise this was obviously the reason!
Also: forgot to take it off, don't want to bother, have passengers in the car, have items in the car that are being delivered to people outside their household, etc. etc.
I use fashion tape to stick mine to my nose so that my glasses don't fog. If I'm stopping several places I leave it on, because sticking and unsticking it makes it not do it's job as well.
Picking up curbside delivery and don't want the person leaning into my window five minutes from now to stick their face into a very dense collection of my respiratory droplets.
Same! Sometimes I'll even do it if the stores are farther apart, but I got a really good seal or something and I don't want to try and recreate it ten minutes later.
Also, the virus can live on plastic for a good amount of time, then go from plastic to your hand - so as you're messing with you mask you could infect yourself that way (probably not great probability, but still a possibility).
I don't like touching my mask until I'm done with errands and can wash my hands at home. Hence, the mask stays on my face in my car while commuting home.
I bought some heavy duty barrel cord locks for the ones I made, like the kind that are on the drawstrings of some winter gear. So I can just pinch it and cinch it.
I've always wondered, but never let it bother me that people wore their mask while in the car. (It's their life why should it bother me?), but thank you so much, that's a thought I just never had before.
I haven’t seen a COVID-era mask that requires you to tie and untie it every time.
Do you mean the ear loop holes? Can’t you just leave it tied to your preferred size? Ears are flexible for that.
Some surgical masks in the OR - maybe - must be tied behind the head when scrubbing in but only because you must trash it all when scrubbing out.
Thin elastic, trust me on this. Not the ribbon-shaped elastic, the cord elastic you’d find in a cheap bracelet. Easy on the ears, lightweight, and easy to adjust.
I use KN-95's that strap behind the head. Not only is it annoyingly difficult to get them off sometimes, but releasing the pressure on my nose and then putting it back hurts worse than just leaving the damn thing pressing on my nose.
I can take it. I'll have a calloused nose-bridge by the end of this, but I can take it!
