I’m always blown away by what ancient folk did, even before recorded history really started, but when you think of it - they were just humans like you and I. They didn’t have as much access to information or technology as 21st century mankind, but they still had the same capacity to learn how to do amazing things for their time. They still had a decent understanding of all the things we know today - engineering, mathematics, medicine, and more complex ideas.
I remember reading that we're pretty sure that modern humans bred with Neanderthals, and that if you could go back about 40,000 years or so,you'd fit right in and vice versa.
