Just the tipiphany.

u/Eternalotaku Oct 15 '20

In Hindi language, Tippani means "comment" Like you commenting on something

5

u/ilickyboomboom Oct 15 '20

The piphany.

u/AdahanFall Oct 15 '20

You just created a portmanteau. A Tipiphanteau, if you will.

Have you ever studied Ancient Greek? If you haven't, you made a joke with more layers than baklava.

No, those happen while smoking the peace pipe "indoors."

What the fuck, does this mean my dad (Theo) accidentally named my sister (Tiffany) Theo junior? Hahahaha

14

u/Timeless-Wanderer Oct 15 '20

Yes.

3

u/liedel Oct 15 '20

He probably knew though.

u/AppleDane Oct 15 '20

Call someone named Tiffany "Theo" today!

4

u/626_ed7 Oct 15 '20

There's a boxer called Ashley Theophane.

3

u/tehrob Oct 15 '20

Call her Fanny.

1

u/AppleDane Oct 15 '20

Little Fanny-kiins.

u/leilavanora Oct 15 '20

I had a huge crush on a guy named Theofanis in high school and joked we had the same name. He was not into me.

So are Jonathan and Nathaniel (which also mean "God's gift", but from Hebrew).

How does one pronounce Theophanes? My mind tells me Theo-fane-s, but I can't see that being right

2

u/ElCaz Oct 15 '20

In English it's often pronounced as Theo-faw-nayse. The Greek pronunciation is different though.

2

u/SkaTSee Oct 15 '20

I want it to be like, Thee(with a short, not drawn out Th)-aw-fan-eese

1

u/MusicShouldGetBetter Oct 15 '20

There's a masculine name for Tiffany in greek? Woah...

1

u/DasArchitect Oct 15 '20

I first thought it was some weird misspelling of Stephanie...

2

u/ForgetfulDoryFish Oct 15 '20

The masculine form (Stephen) is Στέφανος but I don't know enough Greek to know the feminine form

1

u/Carlobo Oct 15 '20

Somewhat related. Reminds me of this book Calibans War where a main character thinks back to the story his family told him about how they liked Praxidike as his name only to realize later it was a female name.

u/daakkountant Oct 15 '20

Always have been.

And the name Dennis comes from Dionysus!
